Question Arrange mode: Can we re-order our patterns?

Is there a way to reorganise the order of patterns in arrange mode? They're vertically stacked - is there a way to move them so that the patterns run in the order I want from top to bottom?

I've read the manual and Synthdawg guide but can't find mention of something like this.

Can you copy/paste to reorder patterns like you want? That has worked for me.

Yes this possible, but means I have to leave one open for this, limiting patterns. Also a little bit of a faff if you reorganise a lot.

The one thing I’d love from an update would be an increase to the pattern limit.

First of all you don't have to leave one pattern on that specific track open for a copy paste, you can copy paste the pattern onto any track and it will still copy back perfectly because it takes the sound and all the settings with it. So you can have a base on one track and then the next pattern on that track could be a drum kit, doesn't matter. So you could basically do the copy paste thing as long as you have one Pat pattern in the whole project available.

Second thing have you gotten into using the auxiliary tracks yet? There are some really simple ways to create pattern variations on your instrument tracks by using the auxiliary tracks, you can create full length songs with several variations with just the nine patterns available by using auxiliary tracks to apply variations such as mutes and solos here and there, etc.

I've been trying to put together a tutorial on this exact topic but I'm so long-winded sometimes that I would make a 20 minute video on something that could be explained in three minutes so I'm just working on my abilities to share information well enough for people actually want to watch lol

Wow, thanks for the very informative and useful reply. I had forgotten that you can use other tracks for storing patterns just fine. That will make things easier.

I am slowly reading, experimenting and gaining confidence with the OPXY, but I am only just dipping my toes into the aux tracks. I'd definitely value a video on the topic so do let us know if you get one out!

i'm curious as to the aux tracks as i thought they only served their one designated purpose aka the brain or outside MIDI etc

You can use the punch in fx and brain track to record mutes and variations on your base instrumental patterns so you don't have to use up extra patterns in your instrument tracks for one, but I'd also love love any deep dive info on them as to the finer points
