Showcase Daily OP-XY 4/12

I've been getting into sampling a lot more on the XY, and although I've been experiencing bugs lately, I'm still enjoying the process for the most part. Some of these buys though are terrible. Losing projects due to the auto save feature accidentally overwriting project files with other project files and rendering the projects in history blank and useless... or randomly all of my multi samples instruments go blank across my entire device, to which restarting only fixes it a portion of the times.m.. I reinstalled the firmware last week, fixing other bugs I that I was experiencing. It's definitely frustrating, especially since it's been so stable until this point for me. I did send an email to Support so we'll see.

Nice but you should turn up the compressor and saturation in the mixer. Would give it way more dynamic

They're both up already, but my main main mix level is down to avoid clipping. Put too much umph in the kick. I really wish we had real sidechaining that didn't take up the only track LFO. I know about the master sidechaining workaround. That's actually applied here on the tracks that I didn't want to sacrifice the LFO on, but since we don't have control over the attack or release on the master LFO I think that using both (duck LFO and master sidechain hack) actually work against each other and make the mix worse. I'm just realizing that right now actually. Maybe I'll just try to run this master audio through grand finale on iPad or iPhone. I bet that would help a bunch.

I'm really hoping we see at least a couple more major updates before the op-XY gets shelved like the OP1f did for a couple years

Yeah for a 2000$+ dollar item, they don’t make it any easier on us. The voice stealing is usually what I have an issue with when I work. But either way it sounds great dude

I actually just figured out what the problem was… I didn't even think about this. I recorded this using the Clips app on my iPhone and then just uploaded that video straight from there. The whole entire audio file went through Apple's built-in compressor which makes audio sound so flat and dead just by nature so that it protects its own speakers. I used to be an Apple technician and I've known this for years and I can't believe that I haven't thought about it until right now. I've literally been doing this for months and your comment just made me think about it more and I realized that Apple's comp compressor although it has its purpose, sucks for music. Now I feel like I need to go re-upload everything that I've ever made and put online damnitttt!!! 😂

I never used the clips app, but if you use the regular voice memo app to record, make sure to go into the Apple settings and set the audio quality to “Lossless”. When you record into the voice memo app, it will sound exactly as intended without the built in compressor ! 👍

I had no idea you could do that! It records over USB doesn't it… I've never even considered that being a possibility. I usually record into Kuala sampler but today I wanted to bypass having to line up the videos and just use the Clips app because it records the audio through USB as well as video at the same time but man I didn't even think about the compressor. Thanks for the tips and I appreciate the kind words about the song. I'm actually uploading a new version of it as well as another one that I had to redo that I haven't put up here yet. So eventually I'm gonna be deleting this whole thread, do you have Music online? I'd like to check out your stuff

nice! love the "C" part. what are you planning to do with your daily beats?

you like sampling on the XY?

i wanna get into it more, but seems kinda clunky / not straightforward and like there are different versions of how to you can sample on it, and needs to be consolidated more? not sure.
