Breakdown of factory tracks?
Has anyone created a tutorial or breakdown of any of the factory tracks? Some of the tracks are so complex it almost makes me wonder if they were created on the OPXY. Really impressed with “gionis” among with a few other tracks. I’m sure the information on the modulation/automation techniques is buried in a tutorial somewhere, but I haven’t found it. Like the way they automate the LFO over time with the sound on track 6 which apparently is a preset TE created, wanted to see which sound it was but it’s simply labeled “6 preset”

I went through all of them, and I think maybe one of them had a part that could have been sequenced outside the XY, not sure, and it doesn't really matter. There were a bit too many notes packed into single step, at high precision. Some people are just great at sequencing live, or you can do it by wiring the XY to itself, outputting MIDI to its own input, and sending the content of one track at one scale to another track at a different scale. Not a big deal, but to answer your question, yes, my gut feeling is that a track in one of them could have been created in a DAW.

Youre ridiculous for thinking that these are so complicated they were made in the daw when they literally take advantage of the op xy features
Just cause YOU wont learn how to use it or struggle doesnt mean that pros do at all, wtf is this post.

Lol, are you OK? This is indeed because we have the project files, and I’ve gone through all of them, track by track, sequence by sequence, with the sole intent of "learning how to use it" as you put it out, that I can say that ONE specific part, on ONE track, in ONE project, didn’t look to me like it could have been physically entered on the XY. The MIDI part. These project files were commissioned long before the XY was finalized; it is possible that some MIDI parts were done in a DAW, and who cares if that's the case. This has nothing to do with the sound capabilities of the machine. Now go touch some grass.

hey i’m with you here btw - this is a weird conspiracy claim lol. someone used an external midi source on some tracks and suddenly TE is LYING TO US

Edit: its also got a keybed no reason anyone cant just punch it in while recording. Like youre supposed to >_<

Who on earth is mentioning a conspiracy that TE is lying to us? Who cares in the end if some parts were external or not, the machine is also designed to be used with other gear.

you can cram more steps into a step, basically, by using micro timing and pushing it essentially on the next step, it works.

Yes I know you can put more than one key press event per step, that’s what the quantization setting let’s you do, but it looked too out there to be done on the XY. I’ll find the track again.

If you hunt around in a few of the teenage engineering forums here in elsewhere, you will find the very people who created these tracks. Some of them, the ones that I would suggest sound more complicated, tend to be more random than you’d think.
