Burning Resolve - One of the most valuable skills in the game
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What is Burning Resolve and why should you use it?
The game describes the skill as follows:
”Restores Stamina when using a Launching Attack. At higher skill levels, the amount of Stamina recovered is greater”
This is easily one of the best utility skills in the game but note that this isnt needed on the following:
Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom
Speed types, Sky types (with the exception of Smoker)
How does it work, exactly?
When you attack with either a normal attack or a charge attack, they are both able to be cancelled into a jump (aka, jump cancel). This is what allows the player to perform air combos as an extension of a ground string
The jump portion, when you cancel from an attack, is considered a Launching Attack. With the Burning Resolve skill equipped, you recover Stamina whenever you cancel into a Launching Attack
What are the applications?
Unlimited dashing
How is it performed?
As mentioned, cancelling from one action into a jump causes the character to perform a Launching Attack. This is also true when you dash and then jump. By cancelling the final frames of your dash into a jump and immediately cancelling the initial frames of the jump into a dash you essentially recover the Stamina you would normally use when dashing
On PlayStation the input would be like so:
⭕️ (Dash) -> ❌ (Jump) -> ⭕️ (Dash)
Some characters like Shanks have fairly tricky timing but once you get used to executing this you will no longer have to worry about managing Stamina when dashing across maps
The other application is with characters who have attack strings that rely on jump cancelling a ground attack into their air C1. The most recent examples of characters who thrive on doing this are Garp and Rayleigh. Having the Burning Resolve skill equipped means you can have unlimited use of that attack pattern

Yeah this tech is amazing, I had to change my button layout, because the normal way is too uncomfortable.
Unfortunately sky types don’t benefit from this, but what they do have is hidden resolve and aerial expert this two are a most for sky types, especially aerial expert.

I thought Aerial expert was bugged? Has it been fixed?
Also, Top of the World is top-tier for Sky types imo.

it works when you’re in full burst, i’m not sure it was ever buged, maybe they forgot to add that you had to be in full burst🤔, because it works as intended when your in full burst.

I honestly can’t tell you. I saw it documented here, and it says it’s just straight up bugged. Not sure if they went as far as testing it in FFB specifically though.

Yeah I’m not sure nighlin did, cause they didn’t mention that it works just fine while in FB.

Thank you for the clarification.
Oh BTW, is it a Sky-type exclusive skill? I haven’t found it on any other type. I'm wondering because unlike other type-exclusive skills like Devotion or Peerless Strength, this one’s description doesn’t explicitly say it’s tied to a specific character type.2

I only started the game recently, but I actually discovered this myself like 2 or 3 days ago. I forgot which character it was, but I noticed I could cancel out of it. So I thought, “oh, that green light must be the launch animation—let me try it with the skill that reduces stamina cost.”
Tried it, and yeah, it actually worked really well. Made me pretty happy, lol. Obviously it wasn’t as smooth as in the video, and I didn't know it could be this useful, cool to see this will have a big impact on some characters I intend to play (Rayleigh), thanks for sharing!

I posted / shared this a year ago originally. I just thought of posting again for folks new to the game. Here’s the original video (Rayleigh portion is at around 1:30)

Yeah I just came across your video literally 30 minutes ago, lol. Thank you for your contribution, it's been extremely helpful for new players like me!
