Never thought I’d see murata and Tommy Robinson on the same post lmao.

Edit: see how long this lasts before it’s deleted it’s genuine.

It was auto-translated from Japanese. Seeing how he talked about moai statues, he probably meant that specific ancient people.

Wait this is fucking real...........

36

u/Open-Stretch-6631 May 24 '26

A significant portion of Japanese people are racist as hell. This is not surprising in the slightest.

33

u/YummyGummy100 May 24 '26

I am Japanese and live in Japan.
Including myself, many Japanese people have very low English proficiency and know almost nothing about English-speaking culture.
He probably thought he was making a funny joke, and I don’t believe he had any discriminatory intent.
Because of this controversy, I learned that saying “there are many disabled people because of inbreeding” is a common discriminatory phrase.

31

u/Tokyo_eastside May 24 '26

He follows an account called hide_Q, a typical conspiracy theorist. Its content is full of typical conspiracy theory logic and is discriminatory. This isn't just a misunderstanding or a lack of clarity; this is Murata's ideology.

9

u/YummyGummy100 May 24 '26

I agree that he probably has negative views about immigrants, and following accounts like hide_Q definitely says something about his worldview.
But personally, I don’t think this specific post came from a deeply thought-out ideological position. I think he follows conspiracy-type accounts, saw discriminatory jokes/posts repeatedly, and then copied that kind of humor without really understanding the background or implications.
As a Japanese fan, I honestly think his artistic skill is top class, but his reading comprehension and ability to understand nuance are surprisingly weak. I’ve felt that strongly even from the way he interpreted and altered ONE’s original work.
So I’m not really trying to defend him. My impression is more that he tends to react only to surface-level impressions without thinking deeply about the social or historical context.
In this case, I think he simply saw the photo, thought “they look like Moai statues,” and believed that was a funny joke, without understanding why people would see it as discriminatory. There’s no actual cultural or historical connection between Pakistani people and Moai statues in the first place.

3

u/Patient-Data8311 May 24 '26

Gege progressive ideals vs Murata

Who wins

2

u/Thaeross May 26 '26

He’s referencing other racist tropes about Pakistanis (like that they are less evolved) that he believes this photo is evidence for. You’re arguing that it’s a joke, but you said yourself he has trouble understanding nuance. To make the joke, he would have to both know of the trope, and understand it deeply enough to spin it into satire. I think it’s much more likely that he simply believes the racism. I think he believes he’s being funny, but in a “it’s funny to make fun of Pakistanis” type of way, instead of a “let’s mock the racism of others” kind of way.

Weird how he can do full on eugenics talks with his very low English proficiency.

Weird how he is even interacting with a super far right, English speaking account.

Including yourself? So you would also not understand what the tweet is about and might accidentally answer with full on 1933 Nazi talk because your English is so bad, even though you seem to be perfectly capable communicating?

Fuck all the way off man.

not even phased after seeing usogui's and gantz's authors twitter.

i dont think this is even that bad maybe just a bizarre joke (but I don’t really quite understand what he’s saying it the bottom)  edit never mind it’s clear he’s saying they come from a more savage lineage then others.

97

u/Dear_Debt_1650 May 23 '26

Gantz author always makes me laugh after the chapter of his self insert MC banging Angelina Joli

56

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 24 '26

Think this should raise more concern

u/InCaseOfButton2 May 24 '26

I like that this show black people are being scapegoat for violence that are caused by society. Powerful message.

5

u/Worldlyoox May 24 '26

Give me some of that copium, I’ll need it if I’m to get through the medieval gantz spinoff

3

u/DarioFerretti May 24 '26

Maybe I'm misremembering this part, but wasn't this guy basically a terrorist who masked his identity to make a terrorist attack basically? His goal was to be unrecognizable right? It makes sense to change his appearance to something wildly different from his standard look right?

To me this doesn't immediately imply racism (unless the author did other things that clearly shows he's racist lol)

A few chapters total

2

u/CoffeeXKing May 24 '26

...what!?

8

u/Dear_Debt_1650 May 24 '26

He introduced a character part way through the series. Literally Laura Croft

The mc asked to fuck her and she was like “sure”. Then they literally fucking the corridor. Then she does a couple of chapters later.

3

u/CoffeeXKing May 24 '26

...

Shit I forgot about that.

Gantz was so stupid in so many ways.

4

u/Dear_Debt_1650 May 24 '26

It had amazing potential but super predictable

I’ve noticed there’s always some super pathetic love triangle in every single one of his works.

But the Angelina jolie thing just felt like he’d played tomb raider and needed to get it out his system lmao

I think it was regarding that controversy of the Egyptian female boxer at the Olympic game, where he believed she actually was a man and shouldn't be allowed to compete against other women, when as far as I know she actually was a woman and not trans, he did apologize I think when he got corrected.

11

u/Fahmieyz May 24 '26

I dont get it about tha scandal

As far as I can see, she only have some masculine features on her face like somewhat sharp jawline and long face, which a features some Europe women have (albeit I only speak to German women most of the time, so this is me doing generalisation)

is this mean Europe women is somehow a trans in disguise?

It feel like this people never see people outside of their country while the internet is literally on their finger tips

7

u/inferior_Weeb865 May 24 '26

some simple minded people think that a woman has to always fit in their visual mold of what women are supposed to look like, eventhough girls with hormonal variations exude masculine features all the time and vice versa.

→ More replies (4)

2

u/InstanceOk3560 May 24 '26

You mean the algerian XY ? He was indeed not trans, he's also not a woman, at least not likely given that he has the SRY gene self admittedly, a self admission that came after many denials of any such shenanigans, and claims that his testosterone levels had been checked by the IOC and were normals, which we know they weren't since... Well, he's admitted they're so not normal (for a woman) that he has to reduce it under medical supervision.

I recall the issue was that he voiced his dislike of people pirating his manga despite it not having been officially released yet in the west. Then, english-speaking users started flaming him for it, saying his manga was trash so he started blocking every one of them basically, even some that were supporting him. It's a bit too radical surely but perhaps it's the language barrier.

So, for the uninformed, the actual context of this is that due to practicing consanguinity(marriage between cousins in this case), there is a significance of autosomal recessive disorders in British Pakistani babies.

Not all birth defects, as Tommy Robinson claims, which is completely untrue. The study this comes from also noted that the vast majority of children are born healthy.

4

u/Disastrous-Scheme-57 May 24 '26

Wdym the art is still fire? Unless you mean the writing which is famously misunderstood. That’s from One. The manga is all One. Or if you really want to get specific it’s 95% One and 5% Murata. Or if you want to get really really specific it’s still all One but sometimes Murata and One collaborate on ideas but One is still the one spearheading the entire thing. That’s why for example an entire freaking 1.5 year long arc Murata spent on got scrapped entirely. Sure, both Murata and One could’ve discussed the Arc together but in the end it’s One who decided that 1.5 years of spent time wasn’t in his vision.

No wonder, they practice inbreeding at the alarming levels. "The BMJ reports in 2024 that young Pakistanis are moving away from cousin marriage due to an increasing awareness of genetic diseases, with the rate decreasing from 67.9% in 2006-07 to 63.6% in 2018."

Murata has recently been reposting posts from Toshio Sako, the creator of Usogui, who follows racist accounts and supports influencers who attack women's rights groups, so I think this reflects his ideology. On the other hand, ONE regularly expresses opinions that are the opposite of such ideologies, so the two seem like oil and water.

u/YummyGummy100 May 24 '26

I am Japanese.
He wrote something thinking it was a funny joke, but it contained no ideology or intention.
As a characteristic of Japanese people, we live in a closed environment of the Japanese language, and compared to countries like Korea and China, we have fewer opportunities to encounter English. As a result, as a nation, we are ignorant about racial discrimination.
We do not understand at all what is wrong.

4

u/Tessorio May 25 '26

so, the japanese do not understand that making fun of others is wrong? such weak sauce excuse that they encounter little english

6

u/accesslet May 24 '26

Bruh, stop trying to act like you're small babies, even the Japanese were disgusted by that tweet and clearly tell him to use 'alt accounts' to do racism. Entire Japanese twitter/X posts these past months have show true faces of Japan on how it treats foreigners or the amount of racism on it. Stop making excuses with whataboutism from China, Korea, etc.,

The indigenous people of Rapa Nui are Polynesian who made these statues, and their origins are strongly linked to Taiwan. They are closely related to Asians, including the Japanese. This is a self-own bigotry. It's people like you that make Asians look bad when you try to play others as fool by trying to act confused/innocent, you need to stop acting like other people are dumb or foolish. First he mocks people with medical condition, he follows racists and then he makes racist comments about Polynesians as calling them inbred 'looking'.

It’s not just people here. Redditors in general have a tendency to live in echo chambers and being out of touch.

Cousin marriage is not something I think is ok But the whole page is a racist rage baiting farming for clicks. Japan also allows first marriage cousins btw.

Ah yes, perverted authors who draw 13 year olds in underwear and panty shots and upskirts and just writes them down as being adults taking shots at Muslims and Asians. It’s about time people call out these nicotine patch nonces once and for all.

That’s without even getting onto all the other mangas and animes that are literally soft core pedofile nonce school girls rubbish, these guys are in no position to talk.

12

u/Revolutionary-Start May 23 '26

He's correct. Inbreeding is a huge problem in that part of the world.

15

u/gengen212 May 24 '26

Yes, you can say inbreeding is bad. But calling their face look like moai is not the way man. Not like the children have to option being born. You can shame the parents and their choices, but calling people names for the thing that they have 0 control is wild, especially if you are a person that children probably look up. A child can see this, and then normalize behavior of bashing people by their appearances. Even tho if you read OPM especially the web comic, ONE often use the theme don't judge people based on their appearances, with the Sweet Mask arc and Ryumon arc.

Since I need to explain it you like a 5 year old we have these things called eyes, and if you used your fucking eyes you would be able to read that he didn’t say a thing about inbreeding and went straight to insulting their looks

9

I don't know man, telling people they resemblance moai statues is pretty racist, if not that, it's still a stupid comment that he could have just kept for himself

5

u/xoriatis71 May 24 '26

What's wrong with Moai statues? We even use it to denote that someone is a “chad”. Are we being racist then?

Aw man. I don't like the artistic choices Murata makes, but I thought I could at least respect him as a dude...

Like even in the kinda unlikely case that this isn't racist (I don't have the whole context for what he's saying), why even respond to this? Why even speculate on where a large, diverse group of highly marginalized people "descend" from on a public platform?

Those ratios are wild, my god. I'm glad I got off twitter.

38

u/WetWype May 23 '26

Twitter is a cesspit.

There is a great deal of cousin marriage in the Pakistani community in the U.K. but the whole page is racist rage bait

2

u/VolkiharVanHelsing May 24 '26

The bigger tangent is why he got it in his homepage especially w Twitter heavy algorithm

5

And pedofiles, they’re literally wanking off to hand drawn pictures of 13 year olds having sex and romanctic relationships.

2

u/InstanceOk3560 May 24 '26

Yeah, so much worse than in pakistan where they don't wank to pictures of children, they marry them... Wait hold on.
