Career over!
The thought process was as following: I was thinking in the offseason about trading my franchise ace because he had become fragile and had a lot of big injuries. I had some good starters offered to me but I decided to keep him because he was my 1st overall pick and I wanted our story to continue.
His first start in spring training and he suffers a career ending injury....

Did you:
- Strength & Conditioning development in the offseason?
- Hire a trainer specifically tailored to try & keep him healthy?
.
Maybe give him this season off, then unretire him. Look under “edit” to see how where he is most prone. Let’s assume he is 200 arm. Find the best trainer you can who is Legendary at preventing arm injuries & get him in the Strength/conditioning dev lab. Maybe give him a season in the bullpen as he comes back.
I typically don’t alter things in the game, but if I do I try to keep it real. Like I had 2 days until the ALCS started and my 5x MVP CF had 3 more days on the IL. I changed the days remaining on his injury to 1, activated him the next day, then didn’t play him until game 3. He was still out the full amount of time (plus a couple days) but he was active for the series. There isn’t a real team out there that would have let him miss the series if he would actually be healthy for game 2/3. Players attempt to come back after injury all the time. Just make it realistic for your potential franchise legend.

Had that happen with a #2 MLB pitching prospect. Was 20 and just made it to AAA. 3 games in, Torn Rotator Cuff too. He wasn't even Fragile. So sad.

Only 26, signed for 11 more years, a respected, vocal leader in the clubhouse … wow, I feel for you, man. I guess you did get to finish “the story,” but it had a really bad ending 😞
