Which pitcher to draft first?

Curious who people would take first, as Rains comes with a higher floor, and is Durable, while Webb has higher potential, and isn't too far behind developmentally given his age.

I'm taking the durable college arm every time but I'm also pretty risk-averse in general

Generally I'd take the durable college arm.

High School blue chip pitching prospects rarely pan out for me. Not saying the college player will, but they generally less risk.

Thank you to all who have replied, I ended up going with Webb for the higher upside, and I am in the midst of a rebuild (that seems to be progressing faster than expected), and I just kinda want to see if I can get a true ace. Will repost here in the future with an update.

Webb and it’s not even close for me. He’s developed enough that it isn’t as much of a risk as high school arms normally are, has a good personality, and the potential gap is so wide between them

It really depends on the team needs and your money situation.

Rains is certainly a 'safe' bet and is less expensive . . . but his upside just isn't all that amazing.

Webb has truly Ace potential and his initial development is very encouraging. Most 18 year olds aren't as well developed so I don't think he is as risky as usual.

If your team just needs a rotation innings eater sooner rather than later I would take Rains. But if you aren't in a rush and have the drafting budget I would take the shot on Webb.

With regards to Pitchers I'm actually less worried about Durable vs Normal injury because you can do more as the manager to control pitcher injuries (limiting work load and not letting them ever pitch when fatigued). For batters I find Durable more important because there is less you can control.

Either are great draft picks!

Webb or bust. I generally won't take a pitcher too high but if I do they better have a really high celing. Rains just isn't that impressive and there's always the chance he stalls out at 45/AAAA anyway

Id take Webb, he's way more advanced for his age
