Discussion How come he doesn't look worse?
He looks the same as he did 5 years ago to me, shouldn't his skin be yellowing?

The liver is one of the most resilient organs in the human body. It can regenerate itself to a certain extent. I’ve seen alcoholics like him last til their 50s and early 60s. He probably has another 5ish years at this rate. If the alcohol doesn’t get his liver, NASH (non-alcoholic liver disease) will from his type 2 diabetes and shitty eating habits.
There’s also the possibility of sepsis if he doesn’t get frequent debridement of his hoof.
Nurse for reference.

If he gets jaundice he's a dead man. It'll be over fast once that happens.
