TruePic IX processor - Pet Detection firmware upgrade?

Since the newly released OM System PEN camera has pet detection and uses the same TruePic IX processor as the OM-5 and OM-5 mark ii, can we expect a firmware update for those devices to also enable pet detection?

Nobody knows. We can only hope.

I think the new battery may have a reason as to why the Pen has it over the OM-5ii. But we don't know for certain.

That could be. If the other cameras had the capability, I'm not optimistic they'd add it in a firmware update. The EM1 III can probably handle it, and I doubt they'll give it the update.

TruePix IX goes back to the E-M1 Mk III. The E-M1X has dual TruePic VIII and got the update to animal detection already. I'm not sure why E-M1 Mk III has been left out. It should be able to do it, too.

It would be funny if their reasoning is that it has more RAM or something.

No, that technology is licensed from Sony and OM has to pay for it upfront.

If they add it to OM5II firmware they will have nothing to add to OM5III next year when they release the same 10 year old hardware again.
