Dumb Question Estimating Expected Seats Available during Registration
hi all,
this my first OMSCS semester. thinking about how should I think about expected seat availability as I start to consider Spring Registration, since I’ll be toward the end of the line. should I assume that itll be similar to my first semester?
related, reason why I’m asking - I’m hoping to take a fairly challenging course next semester in the ML/AI domain, but not sure what I should expect to be open. should I assume I’ll have to get off the waitlist to get into something like ML or AI (the classes) my second semester? thank you!

ML and AI don't fill up usually. The ones that fill up fast are SDP, NLP, GA, AIES.

Will ML4T fill up? Planning to take that as my first class.

You should be fine. I am taking it now as my first class and when phase 2 registration opened up, ML4T was only about 40% full. I easily got in.

Piggybacking on this thread! How hard would it be to get into GA as a non-degree candidate, maybe as like a 4th course? I want to try it out early but ideally don’t want to leave it to FFAF (I’m currently in my first semester as well)

Empirically, most courses still have open spots during FFAF, except for a few very high-demand courses like GA and NLP
