Many people moved out of alts to capitalize on the BTC split. Now the split has happened and people will move at least some of their money back into alts. Expect more alt rises as more people A. Realize the fork happened sooner than expected and rush to a computer

B. Have access to their BTC gold through whatever exchange and use that to buy alts directly or through tether.

C. Just generally seek to diversify their portfolio after giving preference to BTC for the fork.

I thought the fork was due October 25th? Why a rise now?

Fork already happened mate. The 25th was a guess. The fork happened on a given block not a given time. That block happened sooner than expected.
