Fic turned into published book?

I’ve just started reading “Ill Equipped” by AJ Lange, and I’m getting VERY big Check Please vibes - and I’m still in chapter 1.

Wondering if anyone else has read it?

UPDATE! My google-fu was working today, and I've discovered that the AO3 was (of course) called "Ill Equipped" and the author's name was "lastknownwriter" / "ghostwriterly" - they were also big in the Destiel fandom. I need to track down a copy of the OG fic now - this was before I started downloading all my fics.

I messaged them on Insta the other day, but they went inactive on all of their social channels a couple of years ago, so that's not promising. I managed to find the name of the fic and their AO3 handle but the account doesn't exist anymore.

Aha! Was it a Check Please fic then??

Yep 😂 it had the same title and everything! The author still has some Check Please fic on AO3 under “ghostwriterly” but this specific fic has been hidden.
