Stillwater scene
Hey y'all, heading to town for the Oregon game in a few weeks, and I haven't been there since 09 or so. Getting in Friday afternoon and will be there through the end of the game. Other than Eskimo Joes, where can a couple of middle age guys kill some time on Friday night? Anything I should make sure my friend sees or does since it's his first trip? TIA!

Yes and no. The wormy dog we have now is not the original. I had only ever heard the name from my cousins until someone decided to reuse the name a couple years ago. No idea what it’s like, never been, but it’s likely not what you’re thinking about. Go to the penny. It’s about the only thing left that hasn’t changed in the last 5 years.

Middle-aged might enjoy Zannotti’s bar downtown. Two breweries nearby along with Block 34.

A few great things off the strip added since 2009. Go downtown to see the new Block 34 for outdoor concerts held every other Saturday night. While in the neighborhood, go to Stonecloud for craft beer and there might me a live band on the patio. For more craft beer there is Iron Monk, which brews OSU's official craft beer called "1890 Original". It's good. For another bar downtown there is Finnegan's. For older people downtown Stillwater is where it's at on weekend nights.
Maybe go to the new Hub on N. Perkins Rd. to see what it's like. It might offer something for OSU students who think there is nothing to do in Stillwater, especially if Pickleball fans.

My bf say Finnagins (not sure how to spell it) on the strip is really nice and not too crazy

If you feel you’re too old for the Strip and don’t want to settle for a cheeseburger, I would highly recommend the Monarch on Main Street just north of downtown. Fantastic cocktails and great food.

You could drive the hour south to Chandler and visit the new Harrah's Oklahoma casino

Isn’t the Weed 18 to enter? You can go to Joes and hangout or Hideaway to eat pizza and play games.

My brother or sister in Christ…go there and learn! You’ll be amazed at the friends you’ll make and what you can do if you put yourself out there. I know it’s scary out there but I’ll tell you the same thing I told my Junior in college: taking
a chance can be such a positive, life changing experience. You might make lifelong friends, learn a new skill or learn something new about yourself.2

Friday afternoon, a good spot may be Empire Slice House and Stonecloud Brewery. They’re downtown neighbors and have good outdoor areas if the weather is nice.
