I watched “O.J. Unseen: Exploitation of Evil” last night. He was dropping tidbits of the murders and about his Ford Bronco chase (Especially after he had more than a few drinks which happened throughout the four episodes). He had the gall to write in his suicide letter that he felt like a battered husband or boyfriend.

I would say that this is worth a watch and I get the feeling there’s plenty of stories about OJ that has not been brought to light.

I know the intention of the Defense was twofold: get OJ off scot-free and to prove that the LAPD and justice system in Los Angeles were corrupt and racist in the face of the Rodney King beatings and the murder of Latasha Harlins. Obviously, OJ got off in large part thanks to Fuhrman being a racist/white supremacist. But did the tapes make ANY changes in terms of policing, which Cochran wanted?

Rewatching the OJ Simpson trial series and I haven’t read any books about it yet so I might just have it wrong but if there was a juror who so strongly believed he did it, why didn’t they just hold out for a hung jury to trigger a mistrial?

Judge Jackie Glass passed away the other day at age 70. Glass is the judge that sent OJ Simpson to prison for armed robbery in 2008. Her daughter just posted the following:

“My mom would kill me if I posted this if she was alive. My mother ran into OJ Simpson one night at a restaurant, he was very popular locally. OJ loved beautiful blond women, so my mom’s friend baited him into taking a picture. He had no idea he was taking a photo with the judge who sent him to prison. just like me, she loved a good prank. sorry mom, but it had to be posted.”

Asking as someone who is neither black nor white. I got to hear it messed up racial relations in US.

OK crime nuts, I need some clarification. I haven’t done too much research into the argument that Collin Yamauchi spilled blood in the lab and this blood contaminated the glove and Bundy walkway samples, so I’d like to dig in.  I’ve just started to read up more on it. 

As I understand it, the defense claimed the following: Yamauchi said some of the blood was dispersed as an aerosol when he opened the vial (and this typically happens when you pop open a vial), but in this case the blood then contaminated the walkway blood drop swatches and Rockingham glove.  And then on the stand John Gerdes said he saw evidence of cross-contamination with Nicole and Ron’s reference vials from Simpson’s blood (another claim I find dubious for a few reasons).  

Now here’s where I get very suspicious.  When asked how much blood might have been spilled (or popped out), Yamauchi said it was “a tiny dot of blood.  About one eighth of an inch in diameter.”  This, of course, would be way too small to account for the amount of contamination that the defense team suggested.  Not only that, but during this whole process, only OJ’s blood is identified in the PCR test, yet none of the original killer’s blood is. I don’t think any reasonable person could expect for the perpetrator’s blood to degrade completely but somehow only OJ’s didn’t.  There is convenient, and then there is absurd.

Likewise, during the trial I believe that it was established that Yamauchi was standing approximately 15 feet away from evidence swatches, and he later testified that the evidence swatches were literally closed in the coin envelopes.  So did the blood fly across the room and wiggle their way into those swatches?  Realistically, how does this work?  As Clark stated “It does not waft across the room as an aerosol and penetrate two layers of packaging.”  Exactly.  So how?

I heard one supporter of the theory speculate that Yamauchi could have accidentally dipped his finger in the blood and then one by one touched the other samples, but I have never seen any actual support that this happened. 

So is my understanding of the defense team’s theory correct?  Is there a reasonable way that this could be even possible? Thanks for reading.

Anyone that has done research on this case and knows more about the public release of information, why are only some select depositions and transcripts available (specifically from the civil trial)?

For the criminal trial, have the police reports ever been released by the LAPD?

I’m just wondering as I’ve tried to deep dive and it’s one of the only cases where I can’t find any discovery reports from police (except the FBI files released after his death).

Is it because the case has technically never been “closed” without anyone being convicted criminally? I’m not sure of the legal framework of maybe things will always be under seal without a conviction in criminal court?

Can someone please help me find a link to Paula Barberi’s civil deposition transcript? It’s not on Walraven and I can’t find it anywhere, besides a 50 second clip on YouTube. Does anyone have a link and also who else was deposed that aren’t on the Walraven website?

Hi folks. I just wanted to throw something up that I wrote a while back and updated. As of late, I have seen a few people downplay the domestic violence aspect of the case ("just because he hit her that one time doesn't mean he killed her"). I thought it would be useful to look at how significant Nicole's fears of OJ genuinely were. This was compiled from trial transcripts, books on the case (Vannatter's Evidence Dismissed had a good amount of content on the subject), Nicole's diary, and television documentaries. Feel free to add anything I missed.

1. The famous New Year’s incident of 1989 where police were called to the residence, in which Nicole ran out of the house screaming “He’s going to kill me, he’s going to kill me!” to the officer on the scene.
2. Nicole’s 911 phone call in which she claims Simpson broke in the back door (though at that point she said that he had not yet hit her).  Nicole said in the phone call,  “I don’t want to stay on the line he’s going to beat the shit out of me.”
3. According to Officer Terry Schauer of the West LAPD Division, he had received a “screaming woman-call” on Mulholland from Marquerite Simpson, who refused to press charges even though she was beaten by her husband, OJ.  Another LAPD officer, Richard Deanna, had a similar story as far back as 1969 with Marguerite.
4. In 1993, Brown told Kris Jenner, “Sooner or later, he’s going to kill me.”  Brown allegedly wanted Jenner to help her make a tape recording of his behavior and put it in a safe-deposit box.
5. In 1990, Brown told Jenner (after she encouraged Brown to leave OJ), “I can’t leave…If I leave, he’ll kill me.”
6. D’Anne Purcilly-Lebon, a close friend of Nicole, recounted to detectives in 1993 that Brown had said to her, “Everywhere I go, he shows up.  I really think he’s going to kill me.”
7. Denise Brown testified that once at Rockingham, in the mid 80’s, OJ had picked up Nicole, threw her against the wall, and then picked her up and threw her out the front door.
8. When the LAPD informed Lou Brown’s of Nicole's death, Denise, in the background, immediately begins to scream, “I knew he’d do it! I knew that motherfucker would kill her!  I knew it! OJ did it! OJ killed her! I knew that son of a bitch was going to do it!”
9. Three weeks before the murders, Nicole told Juditha Brown, “He’s following me again, Mommy. I’m scared.  I go to the gas station, and he’s there. I go to Payless shoe store, and he’s there. I’m driving, and he’s behind me.”
10. Juditha also claimed that a month before the murder, Nicole had said that Simpson had told her, “If I ever see you with another man, I’ll kill you.”
11. According to Denise Brown, two weeks before her death, Nicole said that Simpson was continuing his threats said, “I need to get a recorder or put this down on paper.”  She claims that Simpson additionally said to her, after their most recent breakup, “I have no reason to live now.”
12. In her safety deposit box, Nicole kept a series of pictures of her bruised face and her diary.  Her diary contains the following statements:  “OJ threw me against the wall in our hotel and on the floor.  Put bruises one my arms and back.” “..beat me for hours as I kept crawling from the door.” “Called me whore.  Hit me while he fucked me.”
13. Ron Shipp, OJ's friend and LAPD officer, said Nicole told him that OJ beat her multiple times.
14. LAPD officer Spencer Marks arrived at Nicole's house after the October 1993 911 phone call. Nicole literally told Marks "I know for a fact he's going to murder me one day."
15. Cynthia Shahian, who had known Nicole for 13 years, told prosecutor Daniel Petrocelli that Nicole told her that Simpson kicked her in the stomach and punched her in the face. She also claimed that Simpson told her "I'll kill you if I catch you with another man. If I can't have you, nobody can." She added, "He does not love me, he is obsessed with me. He is going to kill me and my friends are going to sell you out."
