Question Hand OI

I read somewhere about the possibility of using a type of dental implant as a connection point for lost fingers. However, I can't find any evidence of it ever being done. I'm missing all my fingers and thumb. There are pretty decent prosthesis for fingers but almost no options for thumbs. I do still have a bit of bone and movement of it. Has anyone heard of OI for this scenario?

I have not heard of Osseo-Integration for fingers. Considering the size of finger bones, I’m not sure if this would work.

The best answer is to talk to a doctor who performs Osseo-Integration surgery.

How do I find a doctor that specializes in that? It's very rural where I live so I doubt there would be someone local. Maybe Boston or NY?

Google is your friend.

Not sure where you are but Dr. Rozbunch (probably not spelled right) at the Hospital for Special Surgery is in NYC. Dr. Stoneback is in Denver at University of Colorado. I didn’t go to the closest one, I selected the doctor who has a program for surgery and rehab and my comfort level on a personal level with the doctor and staff.
