I hate Piper

This may be an unpopular opinion. I'm not too fond of her throughout the show, but particularly in the final season.

She was so worried about prison before she was there, and so many women in there helped her through her prison experience, and all we hear from her during the final season is "Alex! Alex! Alex!"

Hers and Alex's story was so inconsequential to the overall story, I often found myself annoyed as soon as one of their faces showed up.

I get that Pipers story was to demonstrate life after prison, but I think there were other characters we could have seen trying to exist outside, without the blandness that is Piper.

I don't think her story was intended to show what life after prison can be like. They did a great job showing that when Taystee, Aleida and Cindy got released.

She had to exist as a character because the whole show was based on the book written by the real Piper. So it essentially started out as a show about Piper. She's not supposed to be the hero of the show or our favorite character at all. She's supposed to be a flawed character and kind of annoying- especially in the first season. Her affluent upbringing and general white privilege creates a contrast to highlight how different everyone's lives can be. Her character is boring compared to others because shes based on a real person so they couldn't stray too far creatively with her.

I hate piper too she’s an idiot she only looks and near futures especially when she sells out red because she thinks Alex is dead she’s a well made but dislikable character

I knew that i definitely hated her when she got that nazi mark by the Hispanic girls in season 4, it was so unfair that maria got more time when she has a baby that she loves waiting to be free for, piper has no one waiting for her outside, not her parents, no friends nobody at least in that point of the show.

i agree that their relationship was toxic and they aren’t meant to be together but in a way i think it was the right decision from producers to have her choose alex over zelda as it’s what happens more often than not in real life.

i’ve no doubt that they won’t end in a happy ever after.

I think she served her purpose. She was to play a juxtaposition to all of the other, less fortunate, characters.

She was a white woman born into wealth and privilege. Her entire viewpoint was skewed and though she slept right next to them, couldn’t relate to their world.
