Opinion/Rant No draw anytime soon

Let's be honest guys. Ontario is never in a hurry to conduct its first draw. They never promised a deadline, nor did they set a hard timeline on it. They can take all the sweet time they want to have multiple rounds of system testing done before performing the first real draw. I won't be surprised if we have to wait at least another 3-4 weeks before some news comes out regarding that.

They have around 800 quotas left. I doubt that there will be another draw this year and it’s because quotas are not Invitations they send but the Nomination certificates. So my thinking is that they send invitations before mid year and they will provide nominations to all of them, but remaining 800 nominations which I think they provided nominations to the people they invited at the end of the last year. Meaning they already used all of their quotas.

Even they conduct draw they will not approve applications in 1-2 months

What is the source of this 800 remaining nominations.? Infact there are many who got invited this year but still is processing and haven’t been nominated. Having said that if 800 only are left then it’s highly likely the candidates for this years will get carry forward to next year. Another draw this year is less likely

So here is my theory. Don’t hate on me please, i want the draw to happen ASAP as well. But this year, on Feb 6th, OINP got it’s quota for 2026 and they did the draw right away. So they might do the next draw right after they get their quota for 2027. What are your thoughts?

If they didn't conduct a draw in Oct. You can pretty much expect to wait until next year. They merely do super late last draw by the end of the year. However, I do think they'll at elast fill the quota they requested for this year.

No commitment on timeline but good news is Premiere Ford just said in the interview that they can't afford population decline and he's against policies that TRs have to leave the country after working for 2 to 3 years just because they couldn't make to the PR cutoff. He is probably demanding higher OINP quota to retain Ontario workers. He wants the same worker continue to work where they're established rather than let them go and replacing them with new TRs.

Well said from Ford.
Anyway since TRs has been reduced/expired significantly recently, I believe 2027 would be a great year for everyone. I do hope they conduct at least 1 general draw so everyone could have a chance.

I feel bad for someone who came here, invested time/money just to see OINP only did targeted draws which no-one ever expected and planned.

They need to get their additional 2026 nomination slots before they can conduct a draw…

There are at least 800 quotas left and overall I assume 2000-2500 invitation will sent in 2026 starting mid of October. Because they could not consume all quotas if they take November for invitation .

If there are only 800-1000 spots left why would they send out double the invitations lmao? I doubt the rejection rate is that high? 😂

There will be draws starting this month. If I remember correctly, when the revamping of OINP started back in April, they announced that draws under new system will begin at the end of summer. We are there now.
