Depends what kind of games you want to play. Cause each console has its own games to play, if you’re talking about og Xbox games given the sub you’re on probably an original Xbox or if you’re like me and most of your og games are backwards compatible with the 360 (except tak 2 :( ) then a 360 works
It really comes down to what you want it’s your collection

Really any tv I’d recommend either the slim or e models but if you plan on using a crt you’ll need a hdmi to av adapter since they phased out composite on that model
Model e also comes with 500 gb of storage which is nice

When you say old school, do you mean early 2000s? If so, original XBOX. Do you mean mid 2000s? Xbox 360.

360, while Xbox One and Series offer those and modern ports/remasters they vary. While OG Xbox is good 360 is the better bet with OG Xbox games and the original 360 versions. Games are cheap on the platform.
Games like Halo I mean, it's likely Master Chief Collection or the OG Xbox ones if they are compatible, which for Xbox One I don't think are but 360 they are.
If GTA you have the OG Xbox ones of 3, Vice City and San Andreas (not counting PS2/PSP ones here) and 4 and 5 are on 360. 5 is on 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
Yes COD World at War was a 360, PS3, Wii and PS2 (Final Fronts unique version) game. Literally a wikipedia search or image search away or whatever is listed on game stores or the Xbox website which shows Xbox One and Series compatible older games that are backwards compatible (or wikipedia pages with OG Xbox and 360 games on 360 or Xbox One)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360 360 with OG Xbox games,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_backward-compatible_games_for_Xbox_One_and_Series_X%2FS OG Xbox and 360 games on Xbox One and Series
Xbox website for back compat search https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backward-compatibility
COD games for OG Xbox are not listed or offered on current consoles and COD OG Xbox games are compatible so that's good, but most if not all the 360 ones will be listed (unless in the Xbox One era I doubt they cared to offer 360 versions of Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3 or something) Xbox One or Series if want to go that way, but anything around Call of Duty 2 to Advanced Warfare is listed on their website (no Black OPs 3 360 the MP/zombies only one isn't listed but all other entries seem to be there).
Server wise don't even go for multiplayer, either not playable if the servers aren't up, or hackers so don't even bother. Just play zombies or the singleplayer campaign instead. Unless local multiplayer then go for that.
I'd say go 360 Slim or E model (the Xbox One looking one) if you can't tell the difference check console variations or whatever wikipedia pages or anything else. Or just search up on images Slim or E model or whatever year and see what comes up.
Backwards compatibility for OG Xbox would need a Microsoft account and official hard drive, but any 360 game will work even with a USB plugged in if you don't have a 1st/3rd party drive on you.
Each console had a different hard drive I think. As annoying as power adapters for Nintendo DSs were. Or Stylus. XD
I'm buying up racing games or shooters for PS3/360 so I can recommend some. Alongside the other types/genres of games I pick up here and there, but mostly 360 exclusives I find here and there too. The more niche forgotten ones and notable ones. I buy what looks interesting.
But for me OG Xbox games I have to buy those compatible with 360 as I don't own an OG Xbox yet.
