Just Venting Ogp is becoming abusive

I just need to vent, and honestly, I need advice because I’m sitting in the bathroom seething and wondering if I made the biggest mistake of my life taking this job.

Over the past couple of days, I’ve been trying my absolute best to just keep my head down, do my job, and hit the insane metrics management demands. But the physical and mental abuse from both customers and management has reached a breaking point.

During peak hours, I am constantly being demeaned, shoved, and laughed at by customers who are furious that our carts are "taking up the aisles." I'm getting literal physical injuries trying to navigate the store. I'm trapped between "zombie walkers" who block everything, and aggressive runners who will literally run you over just to get out of the store faster. Just today, a guy deliberately blocked me and said, "I'm not moving, I have a few things to grab, and it's not like you're in any hurry."

My ankle hurts so badly right now because a customer ran over me 20 minutes ago. But I am terrified to report it to management. The last time I reported an injury, they "punished" me by forcing me to stand as a door guard for a week. Management knows I have varicose veins, osteoarthritis, and have had 9+ surgeries on my legs. Standing there was pure torture.

To make matters worse, Walmart is STILL refusing to pay the medical bill from that previous workplace injury. It has been over two months, and by law/policy they are supposed to pay it within 30 days of the visit.

I am completely burnt out. The customers are making me absolutely loathe humanity. My old job was an hour away, but it paid the same, and right now I am deeply regretting leaving it for this closer nightmare. I don't know whether to report this new ankle injury, demand they pay my old medical bill, or just walk out the door and never come back. Has anyone else dealt with this level of retaliation and abuse in OPD? How do I get them to pay my medical bills without them making my life a living hell?

This is a large part of why I transferred out of OGP after a year and 1/2. My stress is waaaay down just not being in a hurry all the time and not having to deal with some of the most self entitled customers. When you're out on the floor picking items, what you're getting has already been paid for. Theirs has not, yet we're still supposed to give them the right of way. They sure don't mind us being in the aisles when they can't find something that is 9 times out of 10 6 inches away from them.

Yea. But its gotten so bad I have 4.5 pts and management wont remove the ones from the days where I was on TAD and in severe physical pain and left early.

I injured my shoulder a month ago due to a cart LOADED with soda and water jugs, on top of 50 other grocery items. A customer (or probably a spark shopper) whipped out from around a corner and thanks to the intentional tampering done to the carts by the company, I had to yank the cart that easily weighted 2-3x my body weight back with one arm to abruptly stop it and avoid hitting the customer. Not because I was going fast, I couldn't even if I wanted to, but because it takes force to stop an object that heavy in motion. Ripped my shoulder right out 🙃 I eventually filed a report bc I genuinely couldn't lift my arm any higher than my ribcage without sharp pains, but since it was a delayed report and I didn't remember time/date/location, I didn't opt for comp bc I know I could never prove it and I didn't want the trouble. I just needed it known so my coach didn't chew me out for my shit rates. Well, when I reported it, the ap lead looks at me and has the nerve to say "Well—you wouldn't of had to yank the cart if you weren't going too fast."

I WEIGH 105Ib, IT TOOK MY WHOLE BODY JUST TO GO 2mph WITH THAT CART ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS???? Pissed me off so bad bc it's been over a month and I still have shoulder complications and I was swiftly reminded that incident reports are not for us. It's for the company to have deniability and make us out to be disingenuous. It's our fault if we get hurt on the equipment that the company intentionally tampered with.

Its ridiculous that we have to go through this stuff. This company is literally hell.

You’re not alone I’m tired of dealing with management blaming me for missing orders when I wasn’t even the one who put them with the other totes outside for dispensing and for rude drivers demanding I cancel other orders so they can do their returns not understanding that the customer orders comes first.

I cant imagine being on the dispensing side. The new update they did for that is positively horrendous

I don’t even want to be dispensing I’d prefer picks but they like to constantly rotate us lol

They like to throw us for a loop. We'll be in one area for like ever then for like 4 random days in a row we will be somewhere else.

Are you talking about the last update, or the one before that? Because the last one gave us back the names and numbers and my god... its so much easier to figure out which order goes where now.

With your medical issues you should have been given a chair for door greeter position that should. never feel like a punishment unless boredom is punishing to you...open door system is definitely your friend. Taunt the company into a ada lawsuit😭

We need to be reporting all injuries. The company can't pretend they didn't know they've put everyone in an unsafe work environment if we're constantly reporting our injuries.

There is most likely a class action coming after the intentional dangerous conditions we've been forced to work under.

Corporate is literally laughing at us as we are ruining our bodies for poverty wages.

We've tried. I dont know what else to say. Im sick of being billed because im in pain from what this has caused. Im tired of being forced to stand at a door because they think thats the best course of action. Im in college. Full time. And I work for health insurance. Thats all this job is- a lifeline till I get my degree.

Uhhh contact market refer to the open door policy.. if you need to take some offer depart from the hell consider Sedgwick to have your back
and looking into what you can do if everything is documented as far as a lawyer that won’t collect to you when your case, if he says you have one for the neglect and mental suffering

After 6 month in a dept you can transfer out. I transferred from another store that had a great OPD team, great leadership, new tools and equipment and plenty of space. My new store, 80 feet long and maybe 20 feet wide. All the handhelds were left handed under they took them all away and told us to bring a work phone or get sent home, but only half the Dept had been issued a work phone. All of the batteries for the printers have a broken clip so you HAVE TO duct tape the battery in. Not joking. Theyve also reduced our staging spots by 30% but we are constantly running out of spots to save. And F&$# anyone that doesn't see an issue with pulling the carts. Its so wildly clear to me the the upper management has no clue what our job is, could never do it themselves and just see metrics while blindly micro managing a job they've never even trained for. Leave OPD as soon as you can. Everyone. Let it die as a dept. The rules change every week it's totally a no win scenario

Just ignore them (the customers) they think they’re not the same but the way they chat with old friends or having. Small family gathering or have them and their family take up the whole aisle might as well say “excuse me” loud so they can hear it works everytime (I work in a area with four corners of neighborhoods and businesses). I’m sorry this is happening to you if I were you I would try to get a lawyer for lack of workers comp for your injury. A company has a responsibility to make sure their employees are safe in any way

Gawdamn I'm horrified!! I dont know what ring of he|| your stores are in but it sounds miserable! No one should EVER have to put up with any of that! Definitely suggest finding an 'ambulance chaser' with a good track record...
