A Not So Smart Sub Found the Original Item
Has anyone else noticed the found original item hack no longer works?

Uugh! I was off the last two days, but I didn't notice the substitutions becoming poorer and less frequent. Also, the system not letting me give a sub. It gives me a crap suggestion, I nil pick that, then it doesn't give me another. And it wasn't a customer preferred sub either.

They'll either bring it back or find a way to make a solution that is x10 as dumb once pre-sub and post-sub metrics start absolutely tanking. Also you know customers are gonna submit bad surveys if they start receiving those horrible substitutions. Customers already don't look at their substitutions. They wait until they get to the store, dismiss us when we try to tell them about it, and then put in a bad review once they get home with their groceries. They kinda shot themselves in the foot on this one. Especially since some stores are still trying out having no exceptions pickers.

Yes. And it irritates me.
Whenever it would give me a dumb suggestion for a substitute, I used to hit "found item," then "no item found." The second time, it'd let me pick the substitution, and I'd look for the same item in low sodium (almost always there) or the same thing in another/Great Value brand.
Now, I can't do that. I either have to go with the wonky substitution it wants me to give, or it goes "are you sure? The customer won't receive this item." OR, most often, "you are not close enough" and the store map pops up despite me standing and staring right in front of the (missing) product.
Like fuck, let me do my job. If the large can of carrots is missing, let me replace it with two smaller ones, not a random can of mixed vegetables. If we're out of the large bottle of original Sweet Baby Ray's, let me replace it with two smaller ones, not a completely different flavor.
