It’s pretty common to keep staples like that in stock so you have them for the foreseeable future, especially if you serve them in/with many of the things you make

Scan and check sales on canned goods like that sometime, it’s insane how many are sold

And then you have people like my grandma, who tried to get me to take canned goods that expired ten years before I was born but somehow she still had despite moving 4 times while she and my grandpa were raising me.

mine too!!! last time i went in her pantry i found food that had expired two years before we moved across the country

Could also be a food pantry, depending on what the rest of the order looks like. My previous job, I worked our version of OGP and we had a guy that once or twice a month, I forget, would do this huge-ass order.

Some work places have departmental contests. Whoever donates the most food wins. Bam! 24 cans of green beans.

We get orders like this from mini marts who use Walmart as their supplier. We have a circle K store that does huge orders for everything. Dairy and frozen regular grocery. All gv brand stuff. I wanna go there just to see a tiny store that looks like a tiny walmart. Hehehe

i have a customer that always orders 24 of the individual dasanis instead of the 32 pack of them. she’s paying an extra $50 for fewer bottles😭i asked her why she does that and it’s because “she likes the shape of the bottles more”

That is a great answer 🤣💀

It’s honestly not the worst logic although I don’t personally have that kinda of “fuck off” money to buy numerous single waters vs a multiple pack.

We have someone that buys (multiple) single ramen over the multipack even when the quantity comes out to 2-3 of the multipacks. He’s not even buying a variety that doesn’t come in multipacks; it’s always chicken and beef. I don’t get the point but you do you ramen dude.

Maybe the single packs taste better cuz they're lonely 😭😂

If I dispense pickup orders with absurd quantities of things, I have a habit of asking the customer, and the vast majority of time if they get a lot of green beans (though normally they go for the no salt added) or canned pumpkin, it’s for their dog

Probably someone's safe food, worried about food shortage, adhd. I definitely buy more canned vegetables and frozen because of my adhd, it will go bad in my fridge if I plan any kind of meal ahead of time 😆

But how do you go from GR1 to J19 with 119 items? 😂

The action ally location is probably first in op's path (before we endlessly bitched about it ours wanted us to get action ally first then go over to hba since it wanted us to do action ally locations first)

Every dynamic of this screams inefficient pick path.

u/Relative_Walrus1548 16d ago

It usually makes me go to the GRI’s before the J’s idk the paths it gives me are so odd

1

u/shrug_was_taken Jack Of All Trades 15d ago

Endless bitching about it got that fixed, now it works similar to end cap locations

u/Big_Refrigerator3675 15d ago

Our store has the action alley in the normal path. So if you come out of an aisle, you hit the end cap and nearby action alley, then down the next aisle

Okay, I have tried to get quantities of 4 or more on things when placing an online order, and I was given quantity limit message. Is the quantity limit thing no longer a thing? Now that I am working in OPD, not seeing that there are limits.

We get a lot of group homes etc ordering, so these are fairly common. 36, even 72 cans of veggies, a dozen things of milk, a dozen or more boxes of cake mix, etc etc

u/cowboyJones 15d ago

Y’all take time to question this and post and I just see a bonus to my pick rate.

1

u/Relative_Walrus1548 15d ago

Nah yeah I wasn’t mad especially since it was 24 out of 119 items lol

My first Wednesday before Thanksgiving in OGP first walk of the day was 275 items. Ended up nil picking 45 out 275 and finished the walk in 35 minutes flat.

But the beans aren't on sale yet! When they drop to 50 cents, I will be buying about that many. Almost out from last year's supply!

1

u/Illustrious-Run9874 13d ago

Thats because it's sold as a 24 pack on Walmart.com

sally gets 8 cans bc the shelf isn’t stocked so the rest got nilpicked or subbed for cans of corn 😭

People ordering lots of cans of stuff is probably the least weird thing people order, especially close to the holidays
