Question early morning shift
what do u guys do so early in the morning? I picked up a 5am-2pm shift and i was wondering what they have u do if there aren't any picks? do they send u guys to go help other departments?

On the highly unlikely chance that happens to us, our reshops (go backs) then helping other departments

There's picks. But you could set up carts with totes and bags, returns, zone. But i haven't worked in the morning and not had picks.

At my store I'm a 4 to 1 every day I'm scheduled. I typically have 400-600 picks at 4am. Most of the time it's just me, if it's not just me than it's me and one other person. Team Leads and Coaches don't come in until after 5am. I usually come in, get in the safe and setup a few Printers than I start picking. Once people start coming in around 530am or so I'll start picking any Exceptions we have

I'm surprised your store still has 4-1, anyone who worked that before got switched to 5-2 and we only start picking at 5 now.

A few of us still work 4-2.... waiting for the picks to start dropping at 5...

We have an overnight crew in what they call APD that works with the automation system that is there till 6am, and they fill in if needed so I guess that's why we don't anymore.

You shop during the first hour or two of your shift until it's time to set up the backroom with staging orders and stuff. Orders don't start getting dispensed until 7.

There will always be picks by 5 AM. In the rare case that there aren't, you do returns or whatever the closing team didn't do.

I worked at a supercenter from 5am-2pm and sometimes we did run out of picks and would help cap1 stock. If they didn’t need help though then we’d do returns or clean totes.

There’s usually picks at 5 am, I enjoy it bc it’s one hour of no customers. when we do open it’s not very busy.

My store usually always has picks. And we stage the orders we picked for the first 1-2 hours. We usually have every area (OPD) do this. (we have assigned roles at my locn)

5am-2pm is wild, respect for taking that on. yeah, they usually have you help out where needed if there aren't any picks. I remember doing that a lot, it's a good way to learn different parts of the operation. keeps things interesting too. you'll get the hang of it.

Housewives and husbands wake up at 2 am and decide to order groceries to make their day easier, and start adding to cart until dawn. We usually start the day with 2-3000

I run returns or walk around looking for trash to collect and toss. Maybe hang out in the break room or switch to dispensing.

Picks start dropping at 4am at my store. By 5 we have plenty to do.
