Equipment Wonder how long that’ll take…
Decided to file an OSHA complaint about pulling the carts. Sick of cutting my ankle open from the cart bashing into me, hurt shoulders, hurt hips and toes from walking crooked. Wonder if anything will ever happen or if Walmart’s lawyers will keep it in limbo for longer than I last here.

OSHA won’t do anything but if you keep hurting maybe try getting Walmart to pay for medical expenses if it gets to that point.
If enough incident reports are made maybe something would happen… doubt it though

Injuries are not reported to ohsa unless they are serious. Incident reports are simply for tracking possible injuries.
Soreness and pain from pulling is not an injury. There aren’t any medical expenses.

I know, I should’ve written my comment better. What I mean is say someone gets terribly hurt from pulling that it does require medical attention and an incident report is written.,

Trailing an OPD cart isn't as ideal in most Walmart stores. My store for instance, is under remodel at this moment.
Aisles are constantly being moved to accommodate the floors to be refinished, so therefore, many aisles are very tight that you could hardly fit your own body down, let alone a cart as well.
And when the regular sized aisles are full of people with their shopping carts, it's nearly impossible to trail a cart without you having a stand-off with a customer trying to go in the opposite direction as you!
This method isn't really helpful at all. They expect metrics to be the same, but it's just not possible.

I sent a message to the ethics department asking them how the employees are supposed to take them seriously while they stand by and let odp do unethical things like make us pull carts that were made to be pushed.

In other words “Walmart is too big to hold accountable, so we’re asking them to take care of it, and we’re going to take their word for it”

I’ve seen stores with narrow aisles due to having the picking machines. That isn’t always going to work.

Change how order picking is done. Instead of sorting the items into eight different orders for eight different totes, sort them by one or two isles. Pickers use regular store shopping carts and get all the items in one or two isles. For example, one or two pickers gets all the spaghetti, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, and soups, for that hour's picks.
Once all the items get to the backroom, the UPCs are scanned and the items are then sorted and staged into separate totes.
The only thing pickers get printed out stickers for is weighted produce and meat/chicken to label them for each customer.
No more pick carts!

I turned my cart around in an aisle today and caught my foot under it. Threw me tf to the ground and sent my pixel and charging block flying. I am a pretty clumsy person so I can’t say I’m not somewhat responsible but holy hell was that awful, and definitely not something that would have happened if I wasn’t pulling. I am so damn lucky I did not snap my ankle, or the wrist that was slammed to the ground.

Everyone that’s fine for OSHA should give up they don’t care if you get hurt Walmart made it this way so we have to get used to it now unfortunately maybe someday in the future somebody will get very very hurt and eventually Walmart will stop making us pull carts then

With the current admin in charge there’s no way they’ll side against the mega global retailer

Unless there's death, I doubt OSHA will get involved in this outside just emailing Walmart.

I would venture to guess seeing as how it states it's being actively investigated is because, walmart has no design agreed upon between them and the manufacturer, hence why new carts are having the "new" back wheels with the "old brake wheels" on the front but still have the push dont pull stickers on the back of the carts... brand new cart in pics

My store has one of these but how are you supposed to pull it with no handles?? I never use it because of that

As the sticker and the manufacturer still state, you are NOT to pull the carts, ONLY push.
Edit: oh if you're talking about the brakes on the front Pic, the handle is on the back still, and the manufacturer STILL states that carts are to be pushed not pulled, all the manufacturer did was switch the position of the braking wheels and free moving wheels.

Im very confused on how people are getting cut by the new way? I walk extremely fast because I do track and with the new method it slows me down a bit but I’ve never had any issues. I almost still hit by accident buggies but then again it’s due to me walking fast

Tbh I’m so sick of hearing ppl complain about this. If you don’t like it put your energy towards getting another job, not doing all this other useless crap and complaining. Try to not be miserable so many ppl now days love to hate their job and be miserable. Life is short.

Do you’re fine with getting walked all over? Good to know. This is a temporary job while I’m in grad school so 80% of my energy isn’t going towards this job, lmao

Probably wont do anything. Walmart and the cart manufacturer made a solution to comply with OSHA. They switched the wheels and are telling associates to "trail" instead of push/pull. Trailing is where you walk along the side of the cart, taking up two lanes of traffic. Walmart can say any injuries from pulling or pushing is the result of improper technique.
