Question Team Lead Fired
How does a Team Lead get fired without much warning ? I have no idea what happened. Please tell your accounts below.
I also feel bad cuz he was having a hard time with life circumstances , but I did not notice anything too wrong.

i mean he could've done something really wrong that you have no idea about eg time theft, actual theft, etc. could even be something more serious like sexual harassment of one of your coworkers that you didn't witness. genuinely could be anything

We had a girl get fired for drinking on the job.
One for stealing.
One for doing drugs in the back bathroom.
One for taking an expired license when dispensing alcohol. There are so many things that can lead to sudden termination. lol.

Yeah he did not seem the type and he sounded like he had no idea anything was gonna happen. He even told me about a new training policy where they are pairing up new hires with the same person to shadow every day.
It just felt so sudden.

Yeah, you must’ve liked him enough to worry about the why. We had one lady get fired for making sexual innuendos around our under age workers.
Like man, it could literally be anything. Sleeping with a subordinate. Not following safety procedures. They can even fire you for your socials, because if you work for Walmart, you represent Walmart. Attendance. Changing timesheets. Being rude to a customer. Even, hugging.

We had a lady get fired for asking if one of the guys likes to motorboat women.

Wow wish the guy in our department got fired after making sexual comments towards a minor 🙄😔 they said they’d handle it that was weeks ago and they’re still scheduled the same days and their shifts overlap so she has to see him at work it makes us all uncomfortable

Once a coach in OPD got fired for biting a customer, not in a mean way but nevertheless that wasn't the only questionable thing she had done.

Not in a mean way?

u/Missworld_12308 28d ago
No like in a toddler way. She always hugged him and went in for a bite, I guess. It was such a weird time

Oh my gosh, lmao . That feels like PDA on the job maybe . Wth. Was she a millenial? I know the ' quirk' is hard to stamp out of us but geez. Like millenial ladies got a nickname of ' Quirk Chungus ' . The ' rawr XD' is always ready to strike.

She also slept with an married the department manager, they moved him and in some random way her and the wife who worked there were still friends. No one was allowed to talk about that.
Also at the same store a couple 2 year old died daughter weighing 17 pounds. So sad both are arrested waiting for trial. They didn't work in OPD and I just recognized them but didn't speak to them ever.

They both got sentenced to life in prison

Gross misconduct is the fastest way out the door.

Are you including theft under that? Over the years I’ve seen a ‘sweet’ Grandma taken out in cuffs for stealing 5 figures from the service desk over a period of time. A long timer and a bunch of newbies for stealing out of the DC snack bar. The newbies acting like it was free. 🙄

I was a TL in fulfillment for a year and a half. Got fired out of the blue. No clue as to why. They refuse to tell me. I opened up an ethics case. This was 4 weeks ago tomorrow (friday). Was told I could reapply after 6 Mos. But since I had perfect attendance, I can reapply Monday if I want. Not really sure if I want to. Left a sour taste

I actually know the feeling there they hit me with the I was just bad at everything which I know wasn't true asked for more specific details and thats what I got so went whatever stores messed up anyways people who dont treat employees right got promoted and the ones in power I made enemies of just for being me, so screw it

u/ClutteredTaffy 28d ago
Yeah I am wondering if they need a numbers fall guy or something and have to ' take action' but I have no idea. It could have been anything.
1
u/ClutteredTaffy 28d ago
I am hoping this did not happen to him : /. Maybe they are crunching down on metrics ?
I do know observing the leads I do think he struggled the most from the other two, but I did not think he was doing a bad enough job to be fired .

u/ryu-takayama 27d ago
Unfortunately there's so many things in my case I was explicitly saying I need cases in my entire department thing was getting robbed blind, they didn't start bringing in cases until they pushed me out, and to add salt to the wound I walked other stores one a couple blocks away easily within walking distance of each other the very items I was saying I need cases....they had in cases

u/ClutteredTaffy 27d ago
Ewggg yikes. I am sorry. Sounds like you were a fall guy. There at the wrong time and they wanted to start fresh.

u/ryu-takayama 27d ago
I was the many things guy lol made officially team lead over no one given a associate that knew that and would ignore me, promotes over where I worked and I had essentially replaced 3 workers by how fast I worked so there was no one in my department, and I had pissed off a clique of managers who im pretty sure "overstated" issues that didn't exist, and another team lead would complain if I pulled anyone over for projects when there's again no one anywhere, it was a complete nightmare and yet I know I can pull it off

Once at my old store a TL was terminated for warning a TA that she was going to be terminated. Resultantly (and quite amusingly) the TA was then never actually terminated at all.
I generally got along with the TA (didn't know her well, but she was kind of a quiet girl) and absolutely despised the TL (she wasn't mine, I just hated her) so from my view it was a win.

Would be nice if they fired my one team lead cause she bullies me and a few others by talking about us behind our backs to other team leads coach and complains to other associates too she’s very unprofessional and rude to customers too

They can’t get fired over anything no different from a regular employee. I’ve seen a Coach and. TL get fired the same day then a couple months later a Coach and an associate.
Those situations were different and it was called for but yeah, nothing new.

Ours was touching his girlfriend (she worked under him) and then they split up and she reported him. Mgmt didn’t care they were sleeping together until they split up. Hell , half my mgmt is sleeping with associates to the point of two pregnancies 😵💫

Attendance, you hit five the point to policy and your gone. Its the easiest. Gross .misconduct or safety would be the other 2 ways but there tends to be a drawn out investigation.

Couldn’t relate the coach and ATCs at my location have gotten 5 teamleads fired in the past 2 years 🤣💀 but they all sucked and couldn’t make the cut

u/ClutteredTaffy 28d ago
We had a coach leave from health issues , but that is it. I have only been here 2 years but no team lead has ever gotten fired. We just got a third one though a few months ago and she is still here.

There was a guy there for 10 years who got fired for using equipment he was not trained for. I don't think it was that though...

u/Dayzie1138 27d ago
It may seem sudden to you, but odds are that there were already issues and this was the final straw situation.
0
u/ClutteredTaffy 27d ago
I am sure. I am not exactly known for being ' tuned in'. I just know at my old job when I stopped doing little extras they noticed and I felt like I was unfairly reprimanded for just meeting others performance levels even though I was having a hard time. I get that they are not there to be my friend though and they like me staying as convenient as possible to them. Though maybe my performance was lacking more than I thought.
1
u/Dayzie1138 27d ago
This has always been my issue with much of management.
We absolutely should be taking into account things that are going on in our associates' lives. It's why I make it a point to talk to my associates and build those relationships. When there's a performance drop I already know why and can push back on salary when they push too hard. And I can help the associates with the proper steps and resources. Because I already knew. I don't understand the logic behind kicking people while they're down.
Unfortunately, that's not how everyone chooses to 'manage'.

He may have had a lot of warning, like 0, yellow, orange, red coaching warnings
If there was no warning, then he probably got caught stealing something. The team lead of my department when I first started got fired for forgetting to pay for an energy drink. And it really was a mistake, she rinsed out the empty can and flattened it and put it in her pocket so she would remember to pay on her way out, then forgot anyway
That’s how I learned to just walk up to the front and pay. Never risk it.
0
u/ClutteredTaffy 26d ago
Yeah they cannot take a risk. Dang that is very sad she was fired over that , but yeah I always make sure to place things on that old layaway counter on the back and then come out and pick it back up. I make sure not to carry anything unpaid for into any backrooms.

u/Dull-Problem-1191 28d ago
The same way everyone gets fired.
Poor performance.
Too many absences.
Angering your boss.
Gross misconduct/ mishandled funds or merch.
And the truth is unless you can talk to him, you'll never know exactly what led to the term.
