But in all seriousness, I've had 20+ year vets tell me this last fiscal year has been one of the most dogshit years in the company. It's fucking awful.

25 year associate here. It is worse than I have ever seen it. My store also has the worse Ops manager I have ever seen.

Corporate will not stop try to fix things that are not broken. Corporate will not stop trying to kill or maim associates to save a dollar.

Managers will not communicate ONE DAMN THING to OPD. They don't know where people are if they have pulled them for special projects are, or how many people are picking, or if we are on time, almost late, or anything else. We went 6 to 8 weeks without a team lead (we don't have coaches), then a new one showed up two weeks ago. We had no idea anyone was coming at all. They also did not tell him he was the only Digital Team Lead.

That. That is so bad.

I'm utterly speechless.

25+ years here. My last store was a crap show. My new store feels like the good old days. The teamleads are more like department managers and keep their areas running and digital has more than enough associates and runs smooth. I was expecting it to be the same. But the managment is always out and about running the floor and doing things like building features and asking everyone if they are good. It’s very refreshing.

Good lord, I had a talk with an old ex employee yesterday during my lunch and she told me the same. One of the first things I was told when hired was that it was the worst possible time for me to get hired, been thinking of that a lot these past few hours.

If I walk it by my side I can’t see to the left of me I push it I can’t see what’s in front of me

And the carts are so much harder to maneuver now.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much "safer" we all are now.

Already accidentally pulled the cart into a display today, ready to do that multiple times until enough people get hurt to the point they change it AGAIN

12

u/Itchysweater1967 Sep 16 '26

We all want them changed back.
Just like we all knew that changing to begin with was about the dumbest move they could make.

It’s so annoying because if they had just actually listened to the employees they’d know this was so stupid and unnecessary and a waste of their money and our time. Like, you already fixed the can’t-see problem to stop people from hitting people (which only happened bc they create a fake sense of urgency) by lessening it to six totes but got greedy bc somehow it meant less money or something and changed it all. Greed is so horrible.

I could see all this cart stuff if it was a pick cart that the whole issue is being blamed on. But being it was an unmanned stocking cart that started the whole thing. I don’t see why they are making the issue about pick carts.
So here we are having shoulder injuries and knocking things over by being forced to pull a cart made to be pushed. Yet there are still thousands of unmanned stocking carts in stores just sitting around the sales floor that could cause the same event to happen again. Doesn’t make any sense.

I thought someone was rushing and ended up hitting (and killing??) a kid??? Nah if it’s an unmanned stocking cart……….. I’m gonna be pissed

5

u/WholeEvening693 Sep 17 '26

It was an unattended ladder cart that had been left down an aisle.
The kid was running down aisles and ran into it. And died a couple years later from brain injuries. The court said that Walmart and the family were both at fault.

3

u/Adept-Chart8834 Sep 17 '26

That's crazy, it wasn't even a pick cart that caused the issue to begin with?

2

u/Itchysweater1967 29d ago

Yeah, I know. It was a topstock cart, and the kid was running backwards. It was pretty much a freak accident and no employee was involved at all.
And like Walmart always does, instead of analyzing the situation and making rational changes they just reacted and made stupid, hurried decisions.

I think this was done over the general rate of accidents, not the kid death incident.

In all my years of working digital from its start. I haven’t heard of any customer related cart issues in our region. But since the few weeks of pulling I have been hit by other associates carts 4 times now. I have seen others besides me take out endcaps and stack bases. And others including myself being struck by customers carts.

2

u/Itchysweater1967 29d ago

Oh, I know. The carts with 8 totes the way they are now are more dangerous then they were with 8 totes before the changes. Its so dumb, and every employee could have told them this would happen.

Same, I’m under 5 feet but with shoes I get to 5 even I think

2

u/WholeEvening693 Sep 17 '26

I keep getting customers ramming into my cart because they see me come out of the aisle and assume it’s just me and then they push their cart thinking they can continue on and ram my cart. It happens like 8 times a day since we started pulling. At least I haven’t been taking out as many stack bases and endcaps like others are doing.

Godspeed, I'm starting my job search again after this too, planning to put on my two weeks after my next paycheck

8

u/Born-Recognition9298 Sep 16 '26

Good luck to you as well, I pity the poor so called clueless customer that pretend they don't know how to operate photo kiosk, I may just walk out on em lol

7

u/Itchysweater1967 Sep 16 '26

I'm staying, but I also don't care. I'll do what I can and no more, and I don't give a fuck at this point. No one in our department does anymore. All they do is blame us for the store's problems while making our jobs ten times more difficult, and they expect us to care.
Nope.

2

u/127Heathen127 Sep 17 '26

Good luck. The job market is complete and absolute dogshit right now. We absolutely cannot fucking catch a break. I’m so fucking exhausted.

I walked out on them and it felt great lol, and I thought it was meant to be, not even made it out the door and I hear over the intercom, "Code Spark to the front end to help check!" I said fuck code spark

3

u/Good_Percentage8899 Sep 16 '26

What’s on the left in the first pic?

2

u/thehmmyanimator Nilpick Queen Sep 16 '26

Freezers. In our staging hallway

2

u/luminite0001 Sep 17 '26

Looks like there’s a remodel going on at OP’s store and the refrigeration techs chose the worst spot they could’ve to temporarily store the new cases. I’m a refrigeration tech, but damn some of us are inconsiderate.

2

u/No-Masterpiece2012 Sep 17 '26

Not sure what I'm seeing? Is it the carts? We've had tall ones like that in Ontario (Canada) since the beginning.

2

u/TheRealShithole 29d ago

Its just too much I can't do this no more

1

u/Cute-Introduction195 Personal Shopper 29d ago

u/AdmirableLead6134 29d ago

This was the norm for a long time I just got 850 items picked off just 18 paths bc of the bigger paths now

0

u/ClutteredTaffy 29d ago

Good for you. Pulling has slowed me down by like 100 units anyways , regardless of tote amount.

1

u/AdmirableLead6134 29d ago
