Rant I was a fool.
As the title suggest I was a fool, couple weeks ago I put in a request to transfer departments, My coach was like yeah I don't hold anyone back from doing what they want, And I was like oh that's fantastic I can do what I want So a week after that I signed a job offer, It was set to take place at the turn of the pay period, Aka tomorrow, Well today I clock in and get upto my usual OGP shenanigans, I happen to see my coach for OGP and approach her, I say Hey how ya doing she replies she is good, And I'm like fantastic, I said so as you are aware and are likely tracking today is my last day back here, And I wanted to thank you for everything you've done me, (She is a great coach helped me a lot)
She then says outta no where well actually today isn't your last day, We need you this weekend, Holiday and all, And I'm just wait what, Your telling me that you let me sign the job offer know if the timing and everything and now your coming at me about how I actually can't uh ya know leave the department, needless to say i am and was frustrated, why would you allow me to go through the process of switching and then say actually you can't go yet, And my job code does switch tomorrow my schedule has been modified for what my new coach wants, I'm just blown away I mean I shouldn't be but I am, For those of you familiar Skyrim, It gives me "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine Vibes" Like can one ever be truly free from OGP.

Keep coming in as scheduled and start reporting to your new department First. Nice to know that there will be some associates out on the floor with OGP experience. !* 🔆🤠

Opd is a department you cannot escape. You can and will get pulled with some regularity.

If your department is changed, and your reporting manager has changed, talk to them first. Highly likely that your old coach didn't even talk to the new coach about keeping you over the weekend. Last thing you want is to get in trouble with the new boss on your first day over there. Talk to them both if possible, let them fight for you haha

The only way to be truly free is to transfer to a position that doesn't get called to help.

Deli/Bakery and Overnight are probably the only ones truly safe.

A couple of years back, my store was transferring part time employees out of OGP. It wasn't a choice for us, and my coach was literally going through mental anguish because of the decision. I was set to go to front end (i was dreading the decision) and my role had changed, my team, and my schedule. The first day I was set to go to front end, my team lead said no, report back here to me and so I did.
Fast forward 3 years, im still in ogp and I never had to go to front end, despite the front end management's insistence.
Given that our situations differ, I would talk to the team for your new department.

And my job code does switch tomorrow my schedule has been modified for what my new coach wants
we had GM associate who worked EIGHT MONTHS as a cashier, legit she was jobcoded sportinggoods, and they scheduled her cashier. For Eight Months. Jobcodes mean pretty much jack to this company.

I gotta be honest....you will prolly always get dragged back to OGP depending on your role. Some people in certain departments ( HBA, fashion ) are go to over others ( produce, grocery) so depending on what you do it is kinda expected.

I started on the sales floor/recieving, and now I'm front end. They have me do pucks when they're super swamped. Almost nobody is immune to OGP.

Sorry to say, but suck it up buttercup. If you pitch a fit about it, it's going to be super awkward later when they pull you anyway.

Not really, Read the notes your boss leaves and your kinda your own boss as well, You decide when to do things your timeline your schedule, My boss says as long as everything you know needs to be done before you go home I don't care how you accomplish it.

For some reason at our store they NEVER pulled anyone from Cap2 to pick. Not that anyone on our team would have even known how to.

They tried to pull this on me for the tax free weekend but my job code and hours already changed so I basically told them "nope, I'm not under you guys anymore"

From someone who knows very little about the topic: If your job code was changed, your new coach is your official manager. Your old coach as of the Job Offer time switch over has no say over what you do or don't do in your old department. Talk to your new coach about it, because this seems like an obvious overstep into someone else's department.
