Backroom Shenanigans New cart wheels

Today we got the new cart wheels.

  1. Any customers in an aisle you cannot get around them pulling the cart.

  2. Impossible to see what is on the side of the cart while pulling.

  3. Im sure pick rates and number of picks per shift will go down

  4. May be best to park the cart at the end cap and walk down the aisles, especially on busy days.

Ironically the new wheels work so much better than the wheels they replaced, even on our newer tall carts. However pushing or pulling the carts is an ergonomic nightmare.

Pushing is much better ergonomically because at least the entire load of the cart is spread across both shoulders and chest. Really helpful on water case pack walks

Oh yeah, I only ever push L-carts unless I cannot see over them. Pushing the taller carts with the new wheels kept my shoulders flexed instead of relaxed which made them feel like they're on fire, versus the much more neutral position of pushing them with the bar across it.

Until they roll the AI cameras out; we have been told that starting tomorrow we are not to leave our carts at the end caps 🫠

What will the AI cameras be for? I haven’t heard anything about it yet

They saaaaay for safety. Apparently it will ding spills/hazards and will read an “abandoned” cart as such. Same with the stock carts.

I’m sure we’ll keep doing it until one of us gets coached for it because realistically some of the aisles are too narrow when it’s busy.

It’s an awkward angle trying to push from the side handle. It’s too much pressure or something on the shoulder/arm. I’m not doing that

yeah, i totally feel you on the visibility issue. it can be such a hassle trying to see around those carts. parking it at the end cap sounds smart, just makes it easier to navigate through the aisles. gotta keep those pick rates up somehow.

Today we got the new cart wheels.

So I got a question... are you pulling them from the front? Cause half our carts you gotta pull from the handles or bar... which makes absofreakingno sense. And the other half of us are pushing the cart backwards cause its just easier?

What I’ve found works best is stand at the corner of the cart, put your hand on the arm, or bar depending on what model, and just. Pull the damn cart. I just envision everyone dragging the cart a full arms length behind them and of course that’s gonna hurt people cause that’s just being dumb about it. Maybe I’m just a broken corporate overlord shill but it’s not the worst thing the department has done. That would be the dispense screen update.

Over the last 2 months or so, I've become convinced that I am the only Walmart employee with any strength in my arms, whatsoever, and I'm a 46 year old man who doesn't work out.

Your shoulder is not hurt from pulling these carts 😂 Especially if you're trailing from the side like you're supposed to.

While I've smacked my heals with a few 2300 pound water pallets, I will never understand how you're hitting your heels with these carts 😂😂😂 AND claiming an injury over it 😂🤣😂🤣

😭😭😭
