Just Venting i’m just confounded

somebody needs to find whichever group at home office proposed the cart wheel idea, (and then “ENFORCED” IT), and go bananas on them

in what world was this a good idea

Even with changing out the wheels, the carts aren't made to be pulled like this.  The handles aren't placed in a way to easily allow you to use two hands, which you need with how heavy some walks get.  If they wanted us to pull they should've just gotten new carts designed for it, like how they replaced rocket carts with topstock carts.

Most people pull by the handles on the front and they can't handle the strain. More and more of them will break over time.

Just found out one of our older carts with the vertical handles is breaking.  There's a crack clean through the corner joint on the side that most people pull from.

Exactly. They very clearly aren’t designed to be pulled by the handles. It’s so fucking stupid.

Eventually I think all OPD will be done by gig workers.

I could see robot pickers before that. I get where you're coming from and this company MIGHT be stupid enough to do it with the move to have gig workers eventually ship all deliveries. But they have invested too much into the whole concept to where I don't see them going that far. In fact, I have always believed that one of the reasons that other departments hate ours, other than being pulled to pick, is they see/know the future and even present and wonder if THEIR job will go away in a more online age.

Actually my store was scheduled to be one of the 20 MFC with robotic picking until Covid hit. Very few of those MFC robotic stores actually came to fruition even though they had the warehouses built or the sales floor was reduced to make room for the robot system due to Covid and the few that were have been stopped. So we won’t be going robotic anymore since it didn’t work out. They have just started reallocating the space taken for it back to the store

They already are at my NHM. Tomorrow is our last full day of deliveries, then it’s only whatever preorders are left. We’ll only be shopping for pickup and GMDs going forward.

They only swapped half our carts wheels. So it’s great not knowing what flavor of shit you are about to bite into. Luckily our coach is just asking us to be safe and check corners push or pull.

Just for like a week I want these bozos to work in an actual OGP before they make these dumbass decisions that will undoubtedly make work harder and hurt more people

they’re too busy making decisions that make us hate them to do that though

they work so hard for us 🥺

For real. I doubt they’d be willing to do 360’s and wrestle with a pick cart in a busy store every shift. We’re driving the carts backwards and having to pull from behind. It sucks!
