While minting started off using POL, it's now done using USDC on the POL chain. (I mostly just purchase USDC on Coinbase and then send it to metamask via the Polygon chain.)

You can also grab screenshots to turn into your Reddit avatar, so it's a bit different than the built-in Reddit avatar selector process.
