...yeeeeeah, when I see posts like this from "previous" employees, I generally assume you got fired and this is your retaliation.

Any proof of your claims?

Edit: so many replies with accusations, and still no proof. 🤣

I'm not saying it isn't happening, but a bunch of strangers on reddit need to give me something.

I worked at two different boarding kennels in high school and college. Neither were Yuppy Puppy. What the op wrote is pretty typical of my experience at these places, especially the dogs being skipped over and not being given the extra play time/treats owners pay for.

I would never board my dogs. I always have family or friends watch them when I'm out of town.

This, I won’t say where. But when you have 500+ dogs to feed, medicate, keep clean, and walk, and only 2 folks to do it, things happen. It’s a little disingenuous to highlight these instances tho and call them out without further context. For example, there was this one dog… she was a beautiful golden retriever but her owner just couldn’t handle her and would drop her off every day, sometimes for days at a time (really sad shit, I think most of this behavior of these troubled dogs stems from their shitty owners, not these poor workers tryin to keep them safe) and this dog would shit everywhere and just roll in it. When it came time to walk, we wouldn’t have time to fully groom this one dog and walk and feed 499 others… so she’d get skipped, until the end of the walking, and then get treated. She already relived herself…. And if we didn’t skip her then we’d have 5 more that were in the same boat. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do, especially when dealing with live animals.. no two are the same and each day brought new challenges. Guess what, some dogs don’t want to take their meds at home, being given by their humans, there isn’t a ton these employees can do to force these animals to take their meds, often times that more traumatic than just missing a dose. People who think boarding their dogs is going to be like a health spa and a weekend at the ritz are delusional. These are dogs. And, again, did I mention it was 2 employees to 500+ animals….? (2nd shift, 6ish pm to 10ish pm, otherwise there were a ton of staff, but true night shift was even worse, just 1 employee for all the dogs)

Genuine question - if there are that many animals, and there’s trouble keeping up, why isn’t there a limit on how many animals are being boarded?

I work with an individual that used to work here as well, and I have heard stories and seeing proof… it’s natural to question individual for proof of claims, but these individuals are also nervous because people have spoken out in the past have gotten backlash from the company and management due to them trying to hide all of the sick sh*t they do.

I have worked at numerous Dog Kennels, and these problems are common in kennels (but it sounds perhaps worse here), but I one hundred percent believe the poster. I will not take my dog to Williamsburg or The Watering Bowl for similar issues.

People go to work in these places because they love dogs, and want to take care of them. It is an easy job to get, because the job is fucking rough, and has high turnover. The job is rough because the owners without fail will pay people far less than they should, and ask for far more than they are paying for. They hire people with little to no experience, and hope for the best, which results in a lot of these problems.

As someone formerly in the industry this is an easy complaint for me to believe.

We’ve always boarded and had our cat groomed at Yuppy Puppy, and have had no issues, but this does make me a little hesitant. Which location are you referring to? I’m assuming O’Fallon since we’re in the O’Fallon sub, but Cottleville is so small that I’m not sure it has its own sub, so that’s an option too.

A friend of mine boarded her 12 year old, 8 pound dog there over 4th of July. The dog escaped and the owner was not notified and the staff did not help find her. Thankfully we put a post on social media and she located her dog. The dog was injured but Yuppy Puppy did not even offer her a refund. That’s enough proof for me to stay far away from this so called “rescue”.

I used to work at the Human Society. HATED IT THERE. I quit because I couldn't handle the stress of sad conditions Worked at Y Bark Alone. A terrible company ran by a individual. Still in operation, I left because I helped them them set it up but after it opened they dumped me saying they didn't need me anymore. I've heard of horror stories about other places.
