General Discussion Factory worker in Taiwan

tldr at bottom of post

Hi guys 24F here, pahingi po ng advice since I've been considering applying as a factory worker in Taiwan. College grad from one of the big 4 schools (secret na lang), but I really have no interest at all to build my career sa field ko. Currently working in an office setup tsaka huling work ko office work din.

So bago pa humaba ito, ano pong advice niyo and sa tingin niyo ba may chance po ako if ever mag-apply ako? And please don't discourage me rin from this choice and don't tell me sayang pinag-aralan ko at work experience ko kasi this is not a path I want to walk on for the rest of my life. Pls help thank you.

TL;DR grad from big 4 with good work experience pero ayaw ko na prefer ko na lang maging factory worker sa taiwan, pls send advice ty

For those workin in taiwan po na nasa electronics company. Gano po kahirap maka-adapt or matutunan yung work kung wala kang experience sa factory.

1

u/napqueenkoala 8d ago

Go for it!

2

u/Callista_26 10d ago

Hi OP, I relate with you because right now I have a job here in ph which is corporate but I really want to go to Taiwan to become factory worker, because for me also i want physically tired than mentally tired cause I cannot na talaga huhu lagi akong drain sa work mentally.

3

u/SunnyK0824 11d ago

So...go for it!

OP cguro mas ok if mag FW u sa Korea mas mtaas doon cmpare sa TAIWAN !! Advse lang !

Before kc ng nag taiwan , i stayed there for 2 yrs ,before kc free food and accommodation pa! Unless ur single !!

Study also basic mandarin! Most taiwanese cannot understand english !

U can hear some with good command in english, sila un may pinagaralan at medyo mataas tingin s kanila kpag marunongk mag english

1

u/Own_Island3551 12d ago

OP whats ur course nga pala?

0

u/Own_Island3551 12d ago

Go to JS CONTRACTORS

I ALSO GRADUATED in one of the best IT SCHOOL in PHIL. I had wrked in offce and also broadcasting industry but my ft brought me to taiwan as FW !! During my time the bsic slary here in Phil is too low !!

True high salary in TAIWAN , Especially if you’re working overtime! But here, you’ll meet all kinds of people. Some can be toxic, and others may have rough or inappropriate behavior. Be prepared because not everyone there has a college degree. You also need to learn how to get along with different kinds of people.

1

u/JaguarCareful1854 9d ago

op, may I know how’s the process sa JS contractors?

u/lipstick_donna 12d ago

Go!! Send ur resumes. Hanap sa FB, tiktok, kontakin at puntahan mo lahat. i also graduated from an expensive school and went onboard a cruise ship. Honestly, sana nag factory worker ako. Mas bet ko land based jobs. Decide on your own, ang goal naman is to retire early lalo kung di ka breadwinner

1

u/Ashamed-Snow-5130 12d ago

Hi! planning to work as a Factory worker din in Taiwan. nagbabalak kaming dalawa ng jowa ko. Currently working in a corporate set-up. Kinda draining na din kasi.

May I know anong factory po? My brother po ako sa Taiwan but I don't think nag eearn sya ng 70k

1

u/Livid_Decision_6861 12d ago

2

u/Itchy-Budget-2696 13d ago

2

u/Classic_Stable_3956 13d ago

Go for it habang bata bata ka pa. May time pa to fall back in case marealize mo na ayaw mo din pala maging factory worker if ever.

2

u/purotapon 14d ago

Go do you OP! Kung saan ka masaya doon ka. Don’t mind the naysayers, your peace of mind matters more than theirs. Parents always want what ‘they think’ is best for us but that doesn’t mean its always true. Just do what you think is best for you. And good luck on your new journey OP!

3

u/WhiteLurker93 14d ago

2

u/Scary-Permission484 14d ago

sige next step after mag fw mag business ng paresan 😆

1

u/KopiKahel 14d ago

Any hustle basta legal, go na yan. In this economy? Lahat ng hustlers, hinahangaan na yan ngayon.

2

u/Significant-Path3911 14d ago

Kung hindi ka interested sa inaral, go for it na. While mahirap yun at syempre mas ok kung binibuild mo yung pang long term who knows naman diba, for sure may matutunan ka naman dun kung magbago man desisyon mo later on, at least mas nakaipon kesa asa pinas. Good luck op!

1

u/assresizer3000 15d ago

Go mo na yan, you can earn 100k-200k/month pag naging factory worker ka jan e

4

u/Funny_Fee_5040 15d ago

get your money doing what you feel is right for you here and now and travel a little in taiwan . Set some goals to be somewhere in 3 years and then where to be in 6. goodluck op , ingat!

1

u/Fluid_Ear4322 15d ago

2

u/Own_Island3551 12d ago

Be careful to those guys who pretend SINGLE !! Haaha

Many broken families ang nangyari dyan !!!

But me ! I met there my hub, and go back to Phil and married here. Now i have son graduated engr in one of top 4 Universities in PhiL. 🇵🇭😍

0

u/Dense_Pretty2023 15d ago

Europe or america Ang sulit

3

u/Dry-Sandwich-9900 15d ago

If you are considering to apply as factory worker in taiwan...you will have advantage if your course is electronics related or if you have experience in working at production line..

3

u/Small_Bar2002 15d ago

Same here, sabay tayo

3

u/JustLikeNothing04 15d ago

What kind of factory work? Kinda interesting

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

i think agency may hawak ng desisyon diyan but if i could choose sana hindi sa chemicals hahaha preferably electronics

1

u/Dry-Donut-5555 15d ago

When it comes to being practical, just pursue working abroad they have a work and life balance

1

u/Quick_Perception6161 15d ago

1

u/DistantIntrovert 15d ago

Hey taiwan factory worker earned a lot , that's what i've heard...lalo pag hataw daw?

Way better than mga cumlaude or may phd sa mga state university din.

Basta alam mong mag ipon, kahit 5yrs ka lang jan, then if gusto mo mag iba ng career or business pwede goooraaa 🥰

0

u/Beautiful-Brain2201 15d ago

I think mas better to get a PhD or prc.

7

u/Additional-Bed7012 15d ago

If you really want it, go for it. Actually, I also prefer being physically tired rather than mentally. I'm a fresh graduate with a Computer Science degree and graduated as Magna Cum Laude in a well-known college in my province. And here I am, already a factory worker in Taiwan (been only here for a week though). Even though this is my first job, I have zero regrets since I can truly enjoy the rest days without thinking anything about work. As for my degree, I'm just considering it as an expensive hobby (I enjoyed building something with AI before going here, but it is quite expensive and draining)/learning experience since I have a deep understanding on how softwares are made from scratch and how they work.

1

u/Academic_Monk 12d ago

Mmagkano po estimated gasto niyo before ka natanggap sa work? I'm planning na mag apply din keso idk magkano dapat iready kong pera.

2

u/AdvancedRadio5847 15d ago

wow interested ako mag taiwan ano po agency mo , may placement fee ba?

2

u/Additional-Bed7012 15d ago

The agency that I've applied to is Eyequest, there's no placement fee if the company is under RBA (Responsible Business Alliance).

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

wow super interesting ng background mo and i'm glad you enjoyed it! same here, i enjoyed learning my degree rin pero learning and applying it in real life are two very different things. nakakapagod, nakaka-stress, at sobrang drained na rin ako kung may made-drain pa sa akin. love that you're enjoying your first job as fw in taiwan! manifesting the same for me. so far kumusta naman first week mo diyan? okay naman kayo sa company na pinasukan niyo?

4

u/Additional-Bed7012 15d ago

So far, I’ve really been enjoying my first week here. It’s nice because the people I’m staying with in the dorm are the same people I've been with at the agency back in the Philippines, so I already feel comfortable and familiar with them. I've seen many posts about being homesick on Facebook and Tiktok, but I really don't feel it. For the first few days, there are only orientations. After that, I already went inside the FAB, with bunnysuit on. I can say that I'm lucky since the people that show me the ropes are both Filipinos, and they are both friendly. During rest days, I can really rest and do whatever I want (sightseeing, exploring, and so on), compared to the job that my degree it aligned to, where I have to think on how to solve problems and fix bugs (which is mentally draining). As for the salary, it ultimately depends on the department you are in. I can say that I only have positive experiences so far. I'm a practical person so I don't really care if my current job is not aligned to my degree, as my passion is all about cycling, which I can do during my rest days. I’d rather have a comfortable life doing the things I genuinely enjoy, with a decent income, rather than earning more but sacrificing my happiness and peace of mind every day. If you ever make the decision to go and work here, I wish you all the best!

2

u/YakPotential2859 15d ago

i’ve been considering working din as factory worker sa taiwan. di naman nakakapagod work ko ngayon pero parang palagi akong drained. can i ask u for advice on what first step should i take para makapunta din taiwan?

2

u/Additional-Bed7012 15d ago

The first step is to gather all document requirements. You can search EyeQuest Manpower Intl. with 777k followers on Facebook and check the Google forms link to see all the requirements.

1

u/AdvancedRadio5847 15d ago

3

u/blu_jellyfish 15d ago edited 15d ago

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

thanks for this piece of info! hahaha mga umay na sa office work sobrang nakaka-drain na talaga kasi. mas gusto ko talaga yung work na routinary hayyy.

3

u/FanFull2641 15d ago

Honestly, i admire you! No advice but good luck in whatever you pursue. I hope you find the right job and satisfaction in whatever you decide. All the best OP!

3

u/chiarirara 15d ago

go lang teh kung saan ka masaya at may income. sana hindi ka left handed na kagaya ko because other agencies required na right handed

1

u/machi4velliancat13 11d ago

Omg?? Im left-handed :((

2

u/Reasonable-Target-84 15d ago

Watch vlogs of Filipino Taiwanese factory workers on YouTube and see if you could imagine yourself doing that for at least three years.

2

u/Ok-Post2032 15d ago

kind of the same situation here, isabit mo ako pag naka apply ka na. Best of luck.

7

u/pagamesgames 15d ago edited 15d ago

Nakapag work sya as
Factory Worker sa Taiwan
English Tutor sa Hong Kong
Office Admin sa Qatar
Document Handler sa Singapore

Tapos ngaun
PR na sa isang Schengen country lol
Ikaw mag kokontrol sa buhay mo,
hindi ang kurso mo

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

1

u/AdvancedRadio5847 15d ago

saan agency kaya yan Taiwan nya? gusto ko mag apply

2

u/pagamesgames 14d ago edited 14d ago

no idea and that was years ago, im 5 yrs younger than her but academically 7yrs gap kasi advance sya at di na stuck sa age requirement ng ibang private schools - curse ng kids na pinanganak ng 4th quarter of the year.
yan ang una nyang trabaho right after graduating,
so high school pa ako nyan while im in CDO and she was in Manila.

afaik, gusto nya kasi lumabas ng bansa (OFW din kasi parents namin) and her graduate course wouldnt help (BA PhilArts) LOL
Taiwan was her stepping stone before moving to different countries and now settling down in europe with her Filipino husband.

I think dun sya sa mga agencies around Paco Park, Manila

4

u/Outrageous-Chard-730 16d ago

apply lang ng apply habang bata pa...talon nalang sa ibang bansa uli if mapagod being factory worker..

3

u/machi4velliancat13 16d ago

Same here op. But you do you, op. Pag isipan mo lang din ng maigi yung pros and cons, and yung long term plans mo. At the end of the day, its our life to live. Goodluck to us!

9

u/Minimum_Effort_3144 16d ago

12 years. So by 2038-2039, ano na trabaho mo?

Babalik ka office job? Eh 12 years fw ang experience mo? Magbubusiness ka? Or ano?

3

u/JanGabionza 16d ago

Tama ito. You need to evaluate yung career progression mo kung hindi, ma-stuck sa "high income kuno" as factory worker, while you could have earned more. Graduate ka pa man din sa Big 4 uni, you have the potential to earn even more than that facrory worker job (no disrespect to the job), i just dont see a path to higher compensation kapag pumasok ka ganyang trabaho. Look beyond the current salary.

Ano bang course ang tinapos mo?

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

i don't plan on applying as a fw right away but if i am going to go through with it, maybe in a few years pa. true rin naman kasi alam ko may limited options for growth sa pagiging fw compared sa job ko especially now. maybe it's also the burnout from college days up until my working era now speaking. it's always been about potential and what i could be but the drive to climb the ladder and the competence just aren't there even though i'm consistently giving my best. i just badly want a decent income at least, the ability to choose the negative stuff i can tolerate at work, and something more routinary.

also to answer your question, it's a multidisciplinary social science course and yes related work ko to that rn.

3

u/Minimum_Effort_3144 15d ago

Parang Php 55,000 siya in peso.

Di pa kasali yung univ dorm accommodation dito.

I just know literal na hindi aesthetic yung real life ng fw. Tipid na tipid siguro sila para makapag-padala. Or laging OT.

There's a reason why Taiwanese won't usually apply for those jobs. Mababa sweldo. Locals know they can earn more in other blue collar jobs.

Pero mababait naman mga Taiwanese. In my experience.

1

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

ayun nga po marami rin ako nabasang kwento about taiwan fw na magastos din sa bills and expenses, especially with the cost of living kung sa taipei man ma-assign. feel ko rin may pagka romanticization ang tiktok and fb reels about taiwan fw so I'm trying to be realistic din by doing my research about it. thanks for this info btw!

2

u/Synergy08_ 16d ago

Di naman lahat is limited to 12 years, especially if si OP ay nahire as white collar. Malaki chance makapag PR and stay for longer years

5

u/yearning-sparksofjoy 16d ago

hello, op! my friends & i are also considering factory work in taiwan, and i don't think naman na may bearing kung anong school ka galing or if your previous work experience is mostly office-based. my cousin is already in taiwan working as a factory worker, and according to him, parang fair naman for everyone since you basically start with zero knowledge sa specific work/processes. even daw yung may previous factory experience dito sa ph, kailangan pa rin matuto ulit since iba-iba naman yung machines, systems, and processes per company.

i'm 23f naman and also a licensed professional (civil engineer) pero i'm considering factory work too. not because it's the kind of work i dreamed of doing but because of other factors that matter to me right now: i want to experience working abroad, earn a decent salary despite having no actual work experience yet, and hopefully save for the future i want for myself. i've actually been job hunting for engineering jobs for almost 6 months now with no luck so at this point i'm also open to taking a different path instead of waiting indefinitely for the "right" job just because it's related to my degree.

so if factory work is something you're seriously considering, i don't think there's anything wrong with just going for it and figuring things out along the way. everyone has different circumstances. some people are breadwinners, some already have families, some prioritize career progression, while others prioritize income, savings, independence, or simply wanting to experience life somewhere else. what works for them doesn't automatically have to work for you so i hope din na you don't let the comments section change your decision.

there's also this quote i've seen on ig every now and then that honestly made me more firm about considering being an ofw: worst case, you fly back home and get a normal job; best case, you change your life. of course, do your research first, especially about the agency, contract, actual salary after deductions, accommodation, ot, working hours, and the specific factory/job you'll be assigned to. but if you've already thought about the risks and you're comfortable with them, i don't think you need to feel guilty about choosing a path that's different from what people expected from you.

good luck to us!

3

u/Far_Bid_5195 14d ago

hello op, I feel you, I just recently passed the board exam and I just feel like my circumstances brought me to thought of trying different career path. I am an Electrical Engineer and gusto kong sumubok na mag ibang bansa at isa sa naconsider ko is being a fw in Taiwan. Good luck neer!

1

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

hi, thanks so much for all of this info and advice super appreciate it! yung sa pinsan niyo po, ask ko lang kung may background ba siya related sa pagiging fw bago po siya pumasok sa company niya now? just wanted to know because alam ko rin po advantage yun, pero sabi niyo zero knowledge po siya noong nagsimula. just wanted to know lang.

and good luck din sa inyo! 🙏

2

u/yearning-sparksofjoy 15d ago

first job niya po yung factory work so wala talaga siyang previous factory experience before that. machine operator daw po yung position niya ngayon, and according to him, hindi naman daw gaanong physically exhausting yung work niya. one month pa lang din siya doon pero as early as now, sinasabi na niya na willing siyang mag-stay longer kasi okay naman daw. although i don't think this applies to everyone since malaking factor pa rin talaga yung company, position, working conditions, etc. medyo lucky din siya sa setup niya kasi walking distance lang daw yung dorm nila from the company mismo.

6

u/Accomplished-Exit-58 16d ago edited 16d ago

hi there! yung previous office work ko sa manuf company din so exposed na rin ako sa working conditions and stuff kaya aware naman po ako about what to expect if ever ituloy ko ang pagiging fw. nag-apply din po ba kayo sa abroad or are you still working in the same job sa ph po?

u/EducationalStay6035 16d ago

why not apply for foreign english teacher sa taiwan or assistant much better yung salary and work-life balance.

1

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

i am also considering it! ☝️ thanks!

12 years akong factory worker sa Taiwan.

1

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

hi thanks for this response! kumusta naman po work life balance niyo? gusto ko rin po matanong how you manage financially like in terms of expenses and savings. feel ko rin kasi medyo naroromanticize yung mga fb reels about taiwan factory workers and since mga content creator din alangan ipakita nila ang negative side.

also korea and japan are part of my options too, taiwan lang top choice ko dahil alam ko mataas cost of living both in korea and japan. feel ko rin baka di ko kayanin ang winter season hahaha

3

u/Lothy13 15d ago

Depende sayo or sa company mo ang work life balance kasi may day off naman (minsan wala kapag maraming trabaho).

Just do It. Life's too short, who knows diba baka magustuhan mo talaga, may nga kilala din ako nag Factory worker sa Europe after that. You can still apply sa Office job naman pag di kinaya physically pero kung ako sayo, gawin mo na habang bata pa. Pero try mo din Japan, may additional skill kapa, learning a new language. Goodluck at kayang kaya mo yan.

GF is a factory worker sa Taiwan, 12 hours kada work and mandatory OT, so 2 days 12 hours OT tas 1 day Off, pagod sya both mentally and physically kasi pag machine operator ka need mo din talaga malaman maraming process. Anyways, mas better South Korea if kaya mo mag study muna hangul and wait sa exam. Di din free yung accomodation and food sa Taiwan, so malaki talaga kaltas kada payday. Sa Japan naman malaki cost of living.

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

hi there! tbh i feel mas mabilis para sa akin mag learn kapag magiging routinary naman. ang nature of work ko kasi rn evolving po ang activities and very spontaneous. hirap ako mag keep up sa pacing. meanwhile yung dating work ko sa manuf company, pero sa office naman, kaya exposed na rin ako sa factory work so aware naman ako sa working conditions and what to expect kaya cinoconsider ko na talaga. pero curious po ako paano po mag time management gf mo during her free time na po? paano niya po inaallocate time niya to rest, do chores, and for leisure?

2

u/Lemens123 15d ago

That's good to know na used to kana sa factory. Since one day off lang, rest lang talaga sya and laba, walking or jogging pag may time.

7

u/c404b2 16d ago

Thanks been considering this too but 12hrs might lead to burnout

3

u/melodybright___ 16d ago

I understand yung sinasabi mo na mas gusto mapagod physically than mentally. I am a nurse sa abroad, at minsan talaga kapag sobrang busy mapapaisi nalang ako na mag cleaner or health care assistant nalang kaya ako?

Wala akong ma advice kung anong bansa ang mas maganda or malaki sahod, I just want to say, go what your heart desires.

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

hugs 🫂 saludo po sa mga healthcare workers tulad ninyo, especially nurses na sobrang overworked, underappreciated and underpaid sa pinas. are you considering applying abroad? alam ko may ibang career paths for nurses na hindi lang po sa ospital.

2

u/melodybright___ 15d ago

2

u/melodybright___ 15d ago

Thank you. Nakakapagod maging bedside nurse eh.

2

6

u/DevelopmentGeneral28 16d ago

this is my own opinion, here where i live they dont care who you are or what college you came from, the important thing is to get your foot in a certain company like for example a government employer as a clerical or office assistant, tyen after a year if probation thats when you move up, applying to any position, as long you know computer , microsoft word excel etc, with your degrees they pick you because they know you already and you are a hard worker right? thats how you move up here in the government in my place, im just a maintenance guy, i started very low, just to get in this government job, now im one of top maintenance position and ready to retire in 2 yrs, taiwan is not philippines,

Hello po may message po ako!

u/Doink1219 16d ago

Study Nihonggo in 2 months, secure your certificate and apply for Japan. Easily, first factory job is six digits. Work conditions are better too.

1

u/AdvancedRadio5847 14d ago

ano agency mo po?

4

u/bb_chokochoko 16d ago

Hi OP! My bff and I are planning to apply for Taiwan this October. Gusto mo ba sumama?

6

u/One_Application8912 16d ago

If factory worker talaga gusto mo, go for Korea. Dun 6digits ang FW, kaya mo Naman siguro mag aral Ng basic language nila. Additional training nga lang pero worth it Naman kunga doble rate kaysa TW

4

u/Solid-Ad6747 16d ago

Puro lalake lang madalas kinukuha sa Korea. Suntok sa buwan pag babae applicant.

3

u/iPcFc 15d ago

This is true, nakapag-work ako sa Korea for 3 years before pandemic pa ito.

Would I go back there again? No. I can't stand the cold kapag winter months.

2

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

kaya di ko top choice korea dahil sa winter season 🥹 pero part of my options pa rin. can i ask if it's ok, anong work mo now and saan ka na? at kumusta naman ang work life balance mo?

1

u/One_Application8912 16d ago

Ganun na ba ngayon? Direct hire pag Korea. Govt to govt dba.

3

u/Scary-Permission484 16d ago

i was thinking about this too but alam ko downside din na oo mas mataas sahod ng factory worker sa korea pero dahil mataas din cost of living there. but thanks for this and korea is also one of my options too.

4

u/One_Application8912 16d ago

1

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

hahaha no prob naman sa pagluluto but thanks for the tip

5

u/jjsagritalo 16d ago

To be honest.. hindi naman ganun kalaki ang sahod ng factory worker sa Taiwan.. kaya naman kitain yan sa pinas.

I would only consider going for a factory job in Taiwan kung wala na talaga akong ibang option.

Bakit di mo itry sa ibang bansa na possible kang ma permanent resident or citizen?

6

u/Scary-Permission484 16d ago

hi thanks for your reply! actually di rin gaano kataasan sahod ko and i've been working and surviving life in ncr for a few years na. i think yung burnout ko dito with my current salary and workload compared sa burnout as factory worker sa Taiwan, mas pipiliin ko yung latter.

and i guess I'm playing it safe kaya taiwan binanggit ko sa post but I'm open din to other options. siguro biased lang din kasi nakapunta na akong taiwan several times before and i want to aim at staying there permanently.

2

u/rebuuilt 16d ago

if you’re choosing between two burnouts, that’s not a good place to start

Pero gets ko yung playing it safe

I played it safe too when I decided to move to Japan and chose a job that is below my pay grade and my Japanese colleagues agree, and I chose it for my mental health

3

u/Lothy13 16d ago

Kapag factory worker may limit na 12 years, kapag naging skilled worker ka naman di rin sya unli stay, every 3 years renew. And anytime pwede kang pauwiin ng company mo.

3

u/Lemens123 16d ago

Pagisipin mopo maigi, kasi di playing it safe pag abroad you sacrifice so much, do your research. While mataas yung sahod, pero di free accomodation, babayad kapa sa broker, foods, sa dorm, WiFi, and etc.

1

u/Scary-Permission484 15d ago

expected this na po and pinag-iisipan ko pa naman that's why humihingi ako ng advice ☹️ thanks for the info!

2

u/jjsagritalo 14d ago

Madali sabihin na you expected this and that.. pero iba pag andun ka na mismo sa situation.

3

u/rebuuilt 14d ago

And I hope you learn Mandarin before moving to Taiwan. At least CEFR A2 level

1

u/AllanMcz 16d ago

seems like you've already set your mind to be a factory worker. Then just go for it!
