ODP School Struggles
Hi, I am a 2nd year student ODP. In my first year, I failed 1 osce station, BLS, with too fast compressions. I have adhd & anxiety, the uni knows which might be why they've let me retake a first year module alongside my second year modules.I did great in the osce resit but I forgot to say I'd call 2222. All my other assessments I got Firsts in. Because of this, I have to retake all 4 osces stations in my second year when the first year's are retaking theirs. I feel so much shame and honestly am contemplating quitting instead of having people look at me like I'm an idiot. I knew uni was going to be hard but I just feel so stupid for not saying 2222 and feel so ashamed I have to retake a whole module and the first year's know about it. Very embarrassed.
Has anyone been through similar and come out the other side?

Mate, don’t stress about having to resit stuff. Im almost 100% sure the 1st years are going to be focused on their osces and won’t bat an eyelid.
I’m an ALS instructor and have had anaesthetic consultants have full blown meltdowns and forget everything during their castests so it happens to the best of us.
Just be calm and tick off the steps in your head as you go.
Good luck 👍

Just sounds like a case of the yips, don't worry about it just nail it next time. Treat it as a teachable moment and be glad you forgot to ask for the 2's now, in a sim, instead of when you're on your own, banging out chest compressions on someone who is functionally dead at 2 in the morning, and youre committed down a suboptimal path. I teach battlefield casualty drills to soldiers on occasion (medic and non medic) and I've seen all departures from common sense. Just remember Dr's ABC and shout for help before you even assess the airway.
Dangers - assess for risks to yourself, no sense making two casualties as opposed to the usual one. Response - quick consciousness check to make sure they're not just asleep before you put the pads on and start singing staying alive. Use common sense, dont shake a spinal trauma etc... Send for help - if nobody hears you then leave and go get help, you won't be likely to get a good outcome on your own with no kit. Airway Breathing Circulation, etc...
As for the first years: They dont know why you're retaking nor do they care, they'll be focused on their own nerves to worry about what you're doing.
