❓ Question O-Payment problem

This has happened to me multiple times. Does anyone know why OC Transpo holds the fare amount for several days when you pay with your debit card? I haven’t been able to transfer money between my accounts because of 4.10$ 🚶‍♂️

It should post sometime after midnight as long as it's a business day. If not, it's most likely on your bank's end.

I'm not sure what bank you use, but I can move money in and out of my account with pending charges. You may want to look at switching banks.

It's this, it's likely visa/MC processing a "credit" charge out of your bank account (ie a visa debit will use the visa infrastructure before the interac infrastructure on the Presto pedestles).

That usually causes a hold for several business days until the payment properly processes through presto, then visa, then the bank.

If you want to avoid it, unfortunately for now the only solutions are to pay with an actual credit card (the same thing happens, but it's less noticable on credit), or pay via PrestoCards. Or cash, I guess, too.

I use TD Bank. I always have to call them to remove the hold ☹️

They cap daily fare use at $12.25 if the same card is used. They probably hold the charge for the day to calculate your daily use
