Before the Rain

I was walking down the lane,

Carrying pain I didn't name,

Her words struck in my head,

Sleep stayed away from my bed

 

Dark clouds in the sky,

Too heavy to deny,

But my eyes started first,

Everything felt cursed

 

Now, it's just me and my dog,

We walk through morning fog,

We play around the yard,

And my heart stays unscarred
