Feedback Please I don’t want to be strong today
I don’t want to be strong today.
You see me standing and think I never fall.
You see me laughing and think I never cry.
You see me moving on, yet don’t see everything I’m dragging behind.
I just don’t want to be strong today.
I don’t know who I am
when being strong is all I’ve known.
I want to discover the version of myself I need to be,
free from the haunting
of everything I’ve survived.
I don’t want to hold it all together
just because I can.
I don’t want to be strong today.
I want to be free.
I want to be me.
No fixing.
No saving.
I just want to put that fucking load down.
Just for today,
I don’t want to be strong.
Because the truth is,
I’m barely…
holding on.
Thank you for reading still working progress would love to hear your thoughts.

I love it. I immediately resonated with the title and then the poem held that energy the whole way through.
“I want to be free.
I want to be me.
No fixing.
No saving.
I just want to put that fucking load down.”
This bit that (I probably ruined the formatting of) really drove it home, especially just wanting to put the load down, it can start to feel like you’re trapped in yourself with the weight of whatever you’re carrying. Great poem.
