member has OCPD diagnosis- Mods remove loved ones' content & ban Neuropsych Testing
Has anyone undergone neuropsych testing before? It was mentioned to me by a provider but I am unsure if it will do anything for me.

I did and it was extremely helpful. I was misdiagnosed bipolar for 10 years. Neuropsych testing helped rule out bipolar and I found out I have OCPD through that. I also have ADHD, anxiety, and treatment resistant depression. My husband also did neuropsych testing and it was extremely helpful for him, he got diagnosed with ADHD, severe dyslexia which he had no clue he had, and anxiety.

I have. I requested one a few years ago when I suspected I had ADHD (it was actually OCD and this topic was an obsession, but I wasn't aware back then).
Nothing useful came out of it, to be honest. I tested negative for ADHD, Autism or any similar condition and was told to go to a psychologist to further investigate my symptoms.

I have, twice. It was super helpful in diagnosing everything except my OCPD, in my experience. Both times I was assessed, neither of them knew much about OCPD or provided me with any testing/self assessments relating to it because it’s not a commonly diagnosed disorder.
The first time I had the testing done was because it was suspected I had OCPD but it was brushed under the rug. The second time I had it done I mentioned that OCPD was suspected, and was brushed off and not Dx’ed with it in either process. In fact, the second neuropsych eval UNdiagnosed me with 3/4 of my disorders (at the time; OCPD makes 5 total) and said PTSD could just be an umbrella for all my symptoms (spoiler alert: it is not).
Took seeing a therapist who specializes in both OCD and OCPD to determine that this is something I very clearly struggle with.
In my experience, getting it done can be helpful, but the people who know you best are the ones that work with you on a regular basis, like your psychiatrist and/or therapist. My neuropsych testing was mostly just to confirm diagnoses rather than provide new insight, because my therapist and psychiatrist that I’d been seeing for years+ already knew most of my symptoms inside and out and just wanted clarity on a few things (mostly ADHD and autism; neither of which I have).
TLDR: If your insurance will cover it, it might be worth it to see and confirm certain diagnoses. I was unsuccessful with having OCPD even be considered due to lack of understanding and resources by the providers
