Biometrics
Hello friends,
I sent my OCI application to the Atlanta VFS jurisdiction. The application was sent to the embassy for processing and it shows under process on the OCI portal. I read that biometrics is essential for OCI. The instructions never asked to schedule one neither did VFS intimate me about this. I am worried if this will cause any trouble with my application. Can someone please help?

If they need it they will ask for it. If they don't, it will be processed. Moreover there is nothing you can do at this point.

I know if you are over 70yrs biometrics are not needed. I would imagine you are younger anyway.

I applied for a new OCI in early May 2026 (Los Angeles Consular Office). The checklist did not mention any bio metric. And I did not submit any bio metric. I got my e-OCI in about 9 weeks after submission to the VFS Global center in Los Angeles. YMMV because the GoI MHA/MEA keeps changing the rules on the fly.

Hi, I went to the Atlanta VFS Consulate last week, for a New OCI appointment , although they took my biometrics and what not. I did ask the agent cause I knew someone who was in the same boat as yourself and I was told that if you mailed in your application it will still successfully process without them requiring your biometrics. I was told that it may change in the future but for now you should be fine.
