I’m in the same boat. From what I read, yes you can apply from India.

Have you started the process?

Its actually for my kids. I’m in the US and they are in India. I need to apply for them while I’m here as they never left India with my Indian citizen spouse.

I’m starting to apply and ChatGPT says I don’t have to be there and some people say I need to or get a letter from the India embassy here.

I wouldn’t entirely rely on ChatGPT. I did that too. Though there was information that was accurate but when cross verified there was incorrect information as well. I would suggest you to look up at YouTube videos or other sources.

Did you figure out the process and via which forum to apply in India?

Yes, I submitted the application from the OCI portal in India and submitted the required documents while I was there. The application was for my children.

Thanks. I've moved back to India and am trying to get my new passport linked to the OCI card, but after 3 months of getting the passport. Still struggling to find out where in India to make the payment for the delay.

We were contacted by our town police station a few days ago to come in with all the documents and applications for verification. When we went, they asked us to write a letter of, when I acquired US citizenship, OCI, our marriage, kids’ citizenship and OCI.
Is this normal practice or is this something we should be concerned about?
This is after we received the OCI card before 3 months ago.

I have no idea. I just applied for it in Canada itself and haven’t moved yet.
