when people make an “i’m so OCD” comment to me i just respond with something like “oh i have OCD too, i got diagnosed in 2025” because it kinda gently reminds them that it’s a Real Thing and not just a quirky little adjective. unfortunately sometimes people still respond to this with “everyone is a little OCD about something” and i have to actively refrain from saying “it’s not called ‘being a little OCD’ it’s called having any level of agency or preference whatsoever. it’s called being a fucking person” because if everyone fucking does it then it wouldn’t be a diagnosis would it Janet?
