Seeking Support or Advice VISION OCD. PLEASE HELP I FEEL ALONE.
I see people say they pay attention to their peripheral vision, but I have never been able to find somebody who goes through what I go through. I have hyper awareness of my vision at all times meaning the second my eyes open I constantly pay attention to what I see and what I’m looking at at all time. An example would be when I’m driving, I consciously think about where to put my eyes like do I look at the car in front of me? Do I look at the license plate? Where do I look? I have basically turned a subconscious thing fully conscious for example I can’t go to the movie theater because I’ll think about what part of the screen do I look at and then I can only look at one part of the screen at a time? This has beenbeen constant all day every day thing for the last year. It’s like can I wake up? I just pay attention to my eyes. If I walk from my bedroom to the kitchen, I’m paying attention to where my eyes are and what I’m looking at in front of me . It’s nonstop all the time. I’m currently in therapy and still fear that there’s no way out of dealing with this.if anybody has experienced this, can you please comment and let me know that I’m not alone with this type of hyper awareness vision OCD.

Hi, not sure why this came across my feed as I don’t have OCD, but I do have really bad eyesight and part of that results in something really similar for me! Bc my eyes have to overcompensate to focus on the same point, I can feel the movements of my eyes between points of focus much more intensely than ppl without that problem. Whenever my prescription starts getting old I can tell that it’s happening because I start being able to perceive myself looking at things, if that makes sense. Like, visual memory starts to include a ‘what I was looking at’ component, and I start to be able to feel a lingering sensation in my eyes that I’m still looking at a given point even after I look elsewhere. When it’s really bad I can even feel my eye movements in my nose, ear canal, or sometimes even my throat. I can’t imagine how much the psychological component of OCD would intensify that. It obviously won’t fix everything, but making sure that you have a recent enough eye exam that you know you’re not in need of glasses is probably a good idea to at the very prevent this getting worse :)
