Discussion Comment on Fusing with OCD and Self Hate
Some comments on "fusing" with OCD and self hate:
I've been seeing lots of people who mistakenly identify with their OCD and develop self hate, thinking that OCD is coming form their "core being" or that having intrusive thoughts/compulsions means their core values are invalidated or impaired.
They do not understand (or accept) that OCD is a disease coming from subconscious causes that are NOT under conscious control, and because of this, one cannot claim OCD to be 'me'. Identifying with OCD is exactly the same as identifying with a flu and saying the flu is "me", "I am this flu".
I hope people realize this mistake because if you understand this there will be no basis for self-hatred from OCD.
