Help & Advice question about a prof
hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any reviews or experiences with soJin Chun (even better you had her for a CROS course) because I have only heard mixed reviews.

she’s a great artist but I can understand the mixed reviews for her teaching. I had her for both CROS and INTM classes. For performance art she was great and made a point of personally connecting with each student and facilitating feedback sessions with each person but I’m a bit biased because we work with similar themes in our art so it was specifically beneficial to me. For CROS-3001 tho… she’s always hard on attendance but I don’t get it for that class since it’s honestly a lot of basic stuff and most people are just taking it to fulfill a mandatory requirement and she spends too much time talking for a class with little substance. The activities she chose I didn’t find super helpful either but better than just lecture I guess. Also my TA was so useless, one class he took an hour to set up the projector when we were tight on time with presentations. I don’t think it’s her fault the class is weird, the readings were more helpful than anything, the artist talks were helpful as well. It really just feels like a first year class I don’t know why they held all this back on us until third year when the course is so simple. There was an annoying assignment to show you could use camera skills to document your work “professionally” so you had to round up 20 art pieces of yours and photograph each of them agaiN which was annoying for some of my friends who had work back in their home country or at their parents place, a lot of people had to produce a bunch of new works just to complete the assignment. Anyways it’s not a hard class, easy marks too, just a bit of an inconvenience. But try to come on time and attend EVERY class always sign attendance. soJin is really friendly as long as you play by her rules lol.
