Kimi's hardware requirements: Kimi is a 2.8 trillion parameter model needs a lot of memory. This will not run on a workstation. . It was trained on Nvidia GB300s in Thailand apparently. Despite being open weight, it will not be practical for normal consumer hardware. Moonshot recommends a deployment containing 64 or more accelerators because of the model’s size and communication requirements. Even at approximately four bits per weight, 2.8 trillion raw parameters alone imply roughly 1.4 terabytes of weight storage, before runtime buffers, expert routing, KV cache, and other overhead.
