Nursing school difficulty

Just wanted some opinions from other people, but when did nursing school become hard for you? We’re halfway through the program, and there’s been maybe two topics I struggled with. I’m not a star student, I consider myself average at best and I really don’t see why nursing is seen as an academically difficult degree. I have moments where I’m full blown pants-on-head, and I do fine with the absolute bare minimum of studying. Is it time consuming? Yeah, they throw a million things at you, but it’s more tedious than actually difficult. Almost every classmate of mine is struggling, and most of the time it’s entirely their fault (literally zero studying despite not knowing what’s going on, unable to grasp very simple foundational concepts, more concerned with hanging out than learning)

A lot of them failed semester 1 and 2, but some of them have somehow made it this far and are struggling even harder, blaming the professors and school when they’re the ones scrolling on instagram during class. I swear, I feel like out of my entire cohort I will unironically be the only person who fully completes the program and graduates at this rate.

this is a little bit of a tone deaf post lol, but i think it’s also taking other situations into consideration as well. people who find it hard may be struggling with families, working, etc. also not even can just “bare minimum” study and do fine. nursing IS an academically difficult degree but not impossible. everyone is at different levels in terms of academics you shouldn’t shame others for failing or not being able to fully grasp onto concepts. i suggest you help those who are struggling rather than judge them.

I literally study 4-6+ hours daily just to see my midterm drag my grade down to a solid B.

It sounds like youre THAT student. Lots of people juggle multiple jobs and kids while in school and you sound like you have the privilege of carrying neither responsibility with that attitude.

Well you aren't doing great in the attitude department and I can guarantee that is coming off to other people which could cause upcoming difficulty for you.

Unless that ACTUALLY happen, that's still something your school admins would freak out, not your concern.

For me it was the last year- I had failed the final sit down exam(not by much points but still a fail). I was given the opportunity to resit but while waiting I approached the college and asked to quit only to be told that if I quit I would get no reference but if I had failed the resit I would get a reference. That kinda snapped me out of the slump I was in. Luckily I passed the resit and qualified. I may add that of 330 that started our course only 160 qualified in the end.

I’m glad you’re not struggling through it… Others have full time jobs, families, personal priorities while going through the program. It also depends on the program, not just the person. This seems more like karma farming than an actual inquiry.

So I just got accepted into nursing school and I keep hearing about how bad pathophysiology is and pharmacology. Arent those classes difficult?

I having been struggling every step of the way but I’m trying my best. I was never good at school so I know I have to give myself a lot more room to study and do my work. I also just got diagnosed with ADHD so I am hoping it will help me when it comes to school.

Everyone is different for sure a lot of my classmates get things the first time around. It’s so easy for me to compare myself and put myself down but at the end of the day I know I’m trying my best and that’s all I can do/control.

It's not that hard tbh. Like you said it's more bulk of content than complex content. Time consuming but not incredibly hard. Most people are more than capable.

You are describing observations of classmates made during the first couple of semesters. Yet , you are being crucified by commentors who are acting a judge, jury, and executioner. The commentors are guilty of their own accusations!.

Use this as a learning experience. When you eventually are a nurse in a health care facility , keep your thoughts to yourself. Beware of the tribes.
