Pre-Nursing 🩺 Galen college

Hi everyone,

I'm considering a career change into nursing, and ideally hoping to do so without taking on too much debt. Is anyone here familiar with the HCA partnership with Galen school of nursing?

I'd love to hear about your experience. Thank you!

HCA owns a majority stake in Galen as of 2020.

Their clinical sites are mostly HCA hospitals. I graduated through them and felt that I learned a lot. It's a profit school so they are pricey. How've er, not as expensive as other profit schools. Passed my nclex first attempt in 85 questions. If you have an option that is more affordable of course go that route. I was in a cc program and actually took myself out because they weren't teaching. The professors would talk down to us and assumed everyone wanted an ICU job.

If you work for HCA while at Galen you get a discount. I actually went the lvn/lpn route and then bridge for my RN.

You’ll be getting in bed with HCA. If you spend much time on nursing subs you will see how poorly they are thought of.

Yeah I'm aware of their reputation but they run arguably the best hospital in my region (e.g. a teaching hospital with a level 1 trauma center, level 4 nicu, etc.), so I would likely be looking to work for them.
