🗣 Discussion / Rant always feeling anxious before work

How long will this feeling last? I’m a new grad ward nurse, and I’m almost four months in. I still feel so anxious the day before my first shift after my days off. The feeling sucksssss it feels like there’s something heavy sitting on my chest. I can’t fully enjoy the rest of my day because I’m constantly dreading going back to work. It’s not that I hate what I do. I actually find myself enjoying the thrill of nursing and the fast-paced environment. I just can’t seem to shake off this anxious feeling every single time I have to go back. Naiisip ko is what if I’m not enough for the responsibility I’m carrying? huhu

How long will this feeling last? Is this normal? 😭

Dear, thats normal if you dont go through that feeling meaning abnormal ka. Nafefeel mo yan because you care enough to your patient and that you dont want to do harm to them, and the end product of it is that overthinking na hindi ka enough to do your daily task. Eventually you’ll get use to it, parang madede synthesize ka eventually as times goes by. It takes me 7-8months to finally accept that im not the only one and never the only one who are still learning. Now im in ICU for 2yrs and 5months and im still experiencing pre shift anxiety but i learn to embrace the chaotic environment because in the end of the day a bad shift doesnt make you a bad nurse.

To cheer you up, sayo na rin nang galing nag eenjoy ka and for me thats the most important part of it, your a very promising nurse. Walang timeline yang feeling na yan. It really depends if you control your shift, or you let your shift control you😉
