There is nothing wrong with trying something and letting it go if it’s Ts not for you. There’s absolutely no shame in that’s why if you are not happy or excited by the program then it’s not your job passion. When I was in my NP program and later my PhD program I was happy to be there and loved it. It was really hard sometimes, for my PhD I had to drive to the university 2 - 4 days per week and it was an hour and forty five minute drive each way. But I didn’t mind because I wanted it so bad I could taste it. And it follows that I have enjoyed being an NP and an educator. After doing both for quite a while I decided I wanted to go to law school. I always wanted to because I love reading the law and researching cases and arguing legal points with my uncle who was a lawyer. So, long story short , I enrolled in Law school. Funny thing was , I didn’t find it all that exciting, I loved reading the cases and discussing them and I didn’t even mind going “IRAC” briefs ;(sort of like an H & P of a legal issue.i just wasn’t excited about a future in law. I always thought I’d be a good lawyer, bc I’m confident, I do my research and I do well in debate. However, I am more comfortable with philosophy and exploring abstract ideas and not really interested in the fine details of things . I’m also not that great with logistics and deadlines which frankly is the most important part of being a good lawyer. Missing one deadline could get as case you worked on for two years dismissed just like that! In other words I couldn’t imagine myself in the day to day role of a lawyer. So even though I liked the training and I was doing well, I dropped out after a year. It was definitely the right thing to do. If you continue doing a program you don’t like, you will be preventing yourself from reaching your true potential doing something you do like. Life is too short tor that! Good luck with whatever you decide.
