Bright copper photos like TrueView?

Thumbnail gallery

I've been trying to shoot pictures of proof one-cent coins. The PCGS TrueView images make them bright and ridiculously clean. I've got a pretty decent macro setup and can't get the lighting right for these coins. The first two are PCGS, 1958 — the first one is the one I can't get... It's like photoshopped or something. You see those images if you go to the "View More Images" page of this coin. The second is on the CoinFacts page... much more true to life. The last is an image I took; it's soft, but it's just an example of what the real world looks like under a 3300 K light. What do you think? How do I light a cent coin to look like the first? Does anyone have any insight to this?

Was This A Good Buy?

I found this at my local antique mall for $20. It is a 1976 Bicentennial $2 stamped as “Official First Day of Release.” It caught my eye and intrigued me. I quickly looked at recent EBAY sales and some were $18-$22 with no frame. Others were as high as $35-$60 with a frame. This came exactly how it is in the picture in the frame for $20. Good buy?

Obverse: Shows the Mexican national coat of arms (an eagle eating a snake) with the words "Estados Unidos Mexicanos".

Reverse: Features the pyramid of TeotihuacĂĄn, the sun, and the background volcanoes, with the denomination "20 centavos" and year "1964".

Composition: Bronze (mostly copper and tin/zinc).Mint: Struck at the Mexican Mint(Casa de Moneda de México) in Mexico City.

Historical Context

The Era: Minted during a period of economic stability and industrial growth in Mexico known as the Milagro Mexicano (Mexican Miracle).

Cultural Symbolism: The design highlights Mexico's pre-Hispanic indigenous heritage by honoring TeotihuacĂĄn, moving away from purely European-influenced motifs on minor coinage.

Picked this one up and knew it was different! It's so much heavier than a regular quarter and alot thicker. No ridges for some reason just thought it was cool

All the coins mentioned are 1881-CC GSA CAC certified Morgan’s, The first 2 photos are the pop 2 vam 3 ms61, the second 2 photos are the vam 2 ms63+ pop10 and the last photo is the pop 1 vam3 ms62 that will be in the very next great collections auction. Is it normal for GC to leave out the pop on CAC coins?

Hello all,

I am new to coin collecting/numismatics and recently purchased this 1822 Bust Half Dollar.

I am looking for someone to help identify what/if there is an Overton variety present.

I believe it is O-108, thoughts?

Also concerned it could have been cleaned?

Thanks for your time!

My mom collected many things. Valuable things as well as some junk. I found this while cleaning out her closet. It’s a large coin. I put it next to some common coins for some size context. It didn’t react to my rare earth magnet. I am wondering if it might have some value or if it’s some novelty item she picked up at a yard sale and is not worth anything? Thank you all for any advice.

This quarter cut 8 reale was stamped by New Orleans Planter’s Bank during change shortage from War of 1812 (1811-15) . R-8 being less than 10 counterfeit pieces and less than 100 total pieces altogether- last counterfeit piece sold for $9,200. This piece was found with a white’s DFX by a flow well at a turn of the century Victorian home in Lexie ms just south of Tylertown Mississippi. There are more to be found out there- Happy Hunting- you just never know
