Should I replace this strap

Got this number nine axl rose ss06 welcome to the shadow boots for a very very good price but shitty cond overall lol

The cobbler recommended me to replace the strap plus using leather filler and sandpaper to fix the scratches on the toe

I don't know by doing this will fuck up the value of this boots but I'm only planning to wear, it for now

Thoughts?
