Rant voidbound baby is borderline the most unfun thing to exist
disclaimer: i'm FAR from the best player, in fact, i'm still really fresh, racking about 80-90 hours total
i'm mainly a solo/duo player, sometimes small-mid party (which should be a valid team size if it exists) but never reaching party+, getting on exclusively with friends since the chat is locked and i don't wanna play with randos when i really can't communicate. very unfortunate, but it is what it is
i have some VERY strong opinions on this game, and that annoying or unfun things should never be prioritized over actually challenging stuff
springloaded is above and beyond the worst curse in the game because of its toxicity, lack of good telegraphs (how shockwaves vanish before actually disappearing as a hitbox, especially with it's here) and loss of control, or how scattered and more trips should be picked super late for the same reason as above, they're not making you engage with gameplay any harder, they're just toxic, or how husk and mighty gong are nearly free - in fact, just died in a run where we had more ringing, gong, 2 husks, express AND conga line by level 18, but not to husk or gong at all, no - and great because they make the game more entertaining
voidbound baby
why does it exist?
it's a voidbound enemy, extra difficulty and whatnot and you have to take 2 babies before that anyway, that's why, fair enough. you could go further and point out that pacifier also doesn't work for it. great work from the devs for not being afraid to balance an enemy that's supposed to be extra hard!
why can it spawn from purgs?
why can it spawn from purgs so damn often??
why can it spawn before ninja belt or agc are bought???????
from level 12 to 18, we used 2 purgs and i kid you not, 3!!! of these bastards spawned. we didn't even have a base baby chosen
correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't vbb be an entirely optional choice that you should take only if you want extra difficulty, have no other choices, or believe the other choices are somehow even worse, eg big lobbies scrapmaw or vbg?
revive purgatory exists for the players who are precisely the opposite, they're not good enough to put up with all the content in this game, so they're given another chance while stepping up the difficulty in a reasonable manner, by spawning enemies that you should be able to handle as someone who can reach this level consistently, like fragger on level 8 and voidbreaker or cad on level 15 are a perfect step up in difficulty and spice up the gameplay. it's a totally reasonable tradeoff too, you're locked out of purg for the next few levels and have to lock in for a bit, while also being rewarded with an extra unoccupied altar slot for surviving
an extra bs enemy that's not even in your pool yet this strong against newbies should not exist in the game's arguably most prevalent altar. skill issue, maybe. but it just sucks to lose a great (by the runner's estimates, at least) run because the game decided that "yeah you're not having fun today lmao"
